Ah, but all the colors I used on my revision are also from Mario's palette. I don't know how true it is that the style generally has low-contrast sprites (not very familiar with it to be honest), but I'd say it generally looks better with the darker shadows (objectively speaking.)
I checked the sprite a bit and you're right about the colors.

When I was looking at Mario's face, though, I noticed the abysmal amount of contrast it has compared to what you did. Even though I did my best to imitate the shading on Mario's face, you actually went beyond that by using the colors you had available and actually enhancing the sprite work!
I think Mr. Saturn needs a much larger nose.
What about Manny, Ton? Is there anything I need to do about him?

Anyway, Mr. Saturn's nose is larger now.
How come this topic slipped into the second page of topics? Someone ought to call the Freelance Police about that one!

Since I haven't got any additional feedback on Manny and Mr. Saturn yet and I lack a good M&L3 palette, I'm mostly stuck creating frontward facing sprites in the style of the first game instead of actually animating.

Anyway, regarding Sam and Max, I'm actually pleased by how Max turned out. I'm proud of how I did the ears, actually. As for Sam, I'm not sure if I did a good job on him. Considering my excessive use of colors for him, I'm not sure if he's even in the same style anymore. What do you guys think?
Your perspectives are off for the down and down-diagnol sprites. MnL has the perspective more looking down on the characters instead of directly facing them.

I didn't check out the tutorials, but at glance it looks like your sprite's ratio of the body parts are also off. The head should be large with the body being relatively small.

I'm not a fan of the anti-aliasing. It doesn't seem to add anything useful or is even appealing. I might give it a try later to see what I can come up with. I'm not sure how to give advice on anti-aliasing... I learned (and forgot) how to alias by following a programming tutorial on how to make AA-lines.... the code just made sense to me for how to do it manually.
