Sorry for the lack of updates, been trying to get a lot of work done. One of them being actually finishing Sonic for SRB2 (look forward for the next update to try this out!):

But for this month, I'll be working along some friends on a game demo to showcase in an exposition event by the end of the month. So far, there isn't a whole lot done to show, but here's a little sneak peek with one of the animations I did for the protagonist:

Right now, my focus will be getting at least few enemies done for the preview. A while ago, I got to make these sprite designs:

Thoughts?
That is some smooth-ass shit.
Still progressing with the animations, just quite slowly. This time, someone on the team tried to start on a sliding animation:

But then he got busy with something else, so I took it from there:

The anime looking hair frame in the original animation was kind of confusing to understand, so here hoping I've gotten it right.
I'm still working on animations for him over here, but I was kind of thinking about the shading on his shoe. As far as I was told, the front yellow part of the shoe is metallic, so I thought of doing a little edit to it:

Should I leave it be or go for it?
I really enjoyed your sprites, his technique is very good. I wanted to be able to draw well.
Go for it, man! It looks good and metally.
Well since Yahoo has been broken since the Air Benders vanished...

My problem with the sliding animation is that I can't quite tell how he performs it. He enters the action and the transition itself is smooth, but its sort of like he just sits into sliding at high speed. Maybe he should crouch a bit and push a foot on the ground to do it? Some way to imply he got the force to slide from a standstill that fast.
His hand can actually be seen sliding on the floor for a brief moment giving him a push forward, but I'll think about editing the foot positions to make it look like he's putting more strength into it. Yes, I'll "think" about it, because time is running out for me, so it'll depend whether I'll have free time to spend on polishing things.

More stuff.
tip: don't overthink details and just do your job. Polishing is always good, but since this is a game, we will not rate the sprites separately - we have a hollistic mind, and as long as the whole work is good, those small quirks will slide (pun not intended)

...

my god this was a good pun though

My time is getting short and there's still some stuff I have yet to start on. I'm practically screwed, so I better hurry up.
Man alive, but your stuff is amazing! You're an inspiration!

Really, if I saw those in a game, I'd be blown away by how good they are.
Sorry, I've been busy with private commissions the past month or two. But for something I can actually show, recently, I've tried to mimic the pre rendered appearance from Donkey Kong Country.

I feel like I'm close, but not quite there yet. I feel it still lacks the little imperfections that sprites converted from models have in the game, but I can't point my finger on what.
It's too clean to have the pre-rendered feel. I'd suggest breaking up some of the more solid areas and add some darker pixels here and there to give it a messier feel.
I've done my best to fix up Yooka, and as well added Laylee to the sprite.

Thoughts?

Recent commission work of mine. I'm no expert at dragons, but I did get a good practice out of this!
