The blue looks good too, but the atmosphere feels too dark without the cyan

The pixelation of that lava feels weird to me. Especially considering one of the forum guidelines.

Oh, but didn't he say that was temporary a few posts back? He's doing some funky spriting process where everything's done low-res for the sketch and it gradually becomes more high-res as he finishes. It's pretty trippy, considering I've never seen anyone do a technique like that. Big Grin

I think the glowing on the pillars is too intense/too fast.
Not only that, Chris, but I think the animation for the lava needs a little more work. As it looks now, the pattern of the lava bubbles look too even.
Yeah, I'll tinker around with it a bit more.

Here's a stage selection menu I came up with:

Added Batterina (Gors' character) running around in panic. In the old Space Ring, there were two plushies: A Gilbert one and a Batterina one.

Ohh, I'm liking it! It's a very clean setup and the parallax effect is sexy. Miles better than the old one, but a bit more stark. I think more window tiles would be nice. Some chairless ones or one with the plushes, maybe? I'm also not a big fan of the foreground railing. One problem I can immediately see with it is that it would mask the first frame of Ock's back attack (the one with the rug). The railing would make it harder to avoid that attack since it'd cover up the flat rug in the first frame. I think an easy fix would be to make the top of the railing less solid.

EDIT:

Oh! And one last thing. Would it be possible to set up the logo to have it's own parallax? With the pure-gray ground it's on I think that might work.
nick, your batterina looks very squashed. i recommend that you look at gors's batterina thats in the assist sheets

Oh derp. I absolutely forgot that one. Who else would make a good candidate to run around in panic?

EDIT: For the foreground railing, it could be positioned so it doesn't overlap the fighters by default (somewhere between the fighters and the bottom of the screen when no one is jumping).
Will the meteor/s move around during the actual fight?
I don't remember the exact context for the original stage but I always assumed it was supposed to be from the comic Virt made a while back.

Maybe have Starsock in orbit in the back? Or something about the shattered glass? IDK
Actually, Baegal, I'm planning on making a stage based after that comic, but instead having it as Dazz's Airship, the "HMS Dazz is Awesome" or whatever. The Pencil Rocket would probably be seen flying in the back.

IIRC, the Space Ring was in another comic made by somebody else. I'm not going to try to remember who, because I'll get it wrong.
it was previous.

EDIT: nick, you should make the people in this comic run around in the background if you want
