so yeah i thought about it and i think the current website is kinda pointless
you post news about videogames which tons of other websites do, and better
so i dont really see the point of it right now

what i do have is a suggestion

how about making it an archive listing people who worked on commercial games
im thinking we could see the full credits of each game, with the staff and whatnot
and also have pages for developer/designer/whatever with a small bio, website link and list of games they're credited in
now this would mean extensive research of japanese game makers which of course might prove difficult to us non-japanese speakers (except for gors and weaboos but who gives a shit about them)
but at least it would give the website purpose, make it wear its name better, and actually be something kinda new

i dunno, discuss
As I've already said, doesn't sound like a bad idea. I do admit it'd be a fairly big change for the site and probably isn't something that can be done or decided 1-2-3, and a lot of stuff would have to be taken into account. But I think this would be cool to see happen, if possible.
I'm not sure what you're referring to. It seems to me that you're talking about the pre-new-site-launch VG Resource, which is gone. The VG Resource is now simply the common link between the rest of the resource sites - the community itself. A flagship, if you will.
oh ok

my suggestion still stands though
Hmm...I think this is a pretty good idea...Sounds a lot like something that TIGsource would do, but we could always stick to purely pixel art-based indie games.

Kickstarter and IndieGogo are always good places to start when looking for games.
I remember when this was all about giving people the sprites/sounds/etc they needed for whatever they needed them for. Fangames, videos, comics, animated gifs. You name it we have it. Atleast that's how this place was founded.

These days I have no idea what we are doing.
I'd say we're still doing exactly that. People are free to make suggestions but right now, the core purpose of the sites remains unchanged.
Sorry I know this is a MASSIVE bump (it was still on the first page, so eh)

Is the idea Lexou proposing basically like, imdb, but for games?
because that'd actually be cool, and then within that page link to the game resources - that would be awesome
yes kosh that's exactly what i'm proposing, cause i know of no other website like this
and i'm happy you bumped this cause i was gonna, one day or another
http://www.mobygames.com/
http://www.gamefaqs.com/

The resource linking, not so much, but those exist... Just go to tSR, tMR, tTR, or tSoR...

But I'm an obese American. I'd rather information be spoon-fed to me in the most clear and coherent manner possible, so much that I could share the site with a baby and they'll gobble up the site like an episode of Dora. I don't have all day to click through several hundred pages looking for the information I want. Some of us have a car, three jobs, a family and a dog and still need to balance time to hoard all the game resources we need for our Flash movie guaranteed to get a million hits on Newgrounds.

No but like if there was a "central hub" for each game located at the VG Resource which then provided access to the other "Resources" within the game, it'd be really cool.
It'd also give us a clearer, organized idea and "checklists" of games to work with and rip from.

I mean sure we could do that now with the other Resource sites but it'd be four times the work...and you're still linking to the pages so there's still the pageviews...
