Since the sheet requires reviewing, I decided to show case my sprites bit by bit, step by step. It would difficult to ensure quality among everyone with so much to review at once.

Quote:Vipershark
This is not an edit. I made this sheet with inheritance from a base sprite. Blaze did not have much for me to work off of. My second reply is very accurate. Please do not imply you'll kick me off the site.

Let review this comment to help better understand it. It appears it was just a miss read which everyone does occasionally.

Quote:Thanks for the consideration, Please let ME worry if this place is right for ME. This thread was an attempt at submission, please don't try to predict my motives, please do not quote me wrong.

In this piece I explain the thread's objective, said thank you for consideration of my happiness, Politely asked not to do the following above which does not relate to critique.

Quote:You can not personal attack someone work, you can only personal attack a person. If the adjectives within your replies are not directly aimed at me I will not consider it a personal attack and deem this place land of the asses.

In this piece I explained personal attacking and how you can't personal attack art but only the person. Adjectives are words used for describing such as this example. "Vinn is ugly" "ugly" is the adjective because it describe me and its a personal attack I will not take kindly to. Lastly I just stated my conditions for personal attacks.

Quote:Please do not take one sentence replies as not taking critique well. On a personal note, I really don't like when people put words in my mouth, I ******* hate it.
This is another request from me. I prefer to be simple and short because it harder to misinterpret. I may have forgot to put "my" but this was me stating stuff that peeve me. It a personal story but it didn't relate to critique so moving on

Quote:Currently I'm working on the sheet with lighting speed process being made. As a new member I'm declaring that I'm not hitting and quitting as soon as I came. I'm here to stay until my sheet is to a point of acceptance.
In this piece I have 3 main points.
*I'm working on the sheet
*Just because I'm new doesn't mean I'll give up,
*I'm staying until the sheet has been accepted.

Alright! Everything good now yo?

This is not the entire truth, and, because of that, it might as well be a lie. A lot of the work is more than likely yours, however, not all of it is, and, because not all of it is, you must credit the source material, especially if you have taken pieces directly from other works;

Only a few minutes were spent putting this together. I don't want to spend the two or three hours it would take to put the hands of your sprites that don't look like they were made by you side-by-side against Sonic Advance and Sonic Battle Sprite sheets because you insist on asserting that this is "not an edit". If the pieces are not yours in their entirety, that is, if you have taken work directly from other people, it falls under the category of an "edit", whether it is a splice, or a recolor, what have you, it's nothing more than arguing semantics and deviates from the main point - the work is not yours in its entirety.

Please credit your resources.

Looking over your sheet again, one of the first things I have to debate is the practicality of many of the poses and animations you've included. A lot of them are worthless filler (which I'll get to later), but it's not exactly clear as to what you're trying to accomplish with this sheet. If it's meant to emulate the Sonic Advance style, more effort should be put towards animations like dashing, rolling, jumping, looking up, looking down, hanging off the ledge, losing your balance against the ledge, environmental interactions like spring jumps/bounces, loop-de-loop runs, and emulating however Blaze played in Sonic Rush (I do recall some fire being attached to her dashing animation, or something?).

If you're looking to make it more like a Sonic Battle sheet, well, it doesn't really accomplish that either. If it is a sheet meant to have a wide variety of uses attached to it, you shouldn't be focusing on including "charging" and Dragon Ball Z like poses - you should have poses and animations that accomplish more of what was listed above.

Like this animation. One of the most noticeable things is the fact that you have given her arms that don't move. They're just stiff - locked in place and covering the torso. That looks unnatural, uncomfortable, and also really cluttered. The arms should move. Base your animations off of the Sonic Advance or Sonic Battle running animations.

Second, she has no knees in several of the frames. Generally, that's not you know, exactly a good thing, and one of the more extreme movements (frame 6) is kind of worthless in and of itself - how can her legs stretch that far up? That's not how running animations really work. I don't really have the time or patience to go into detail with the inner mechanics of a walk/run cycle. Try using some of the information found here, in this image, and also here. They're more useful than I could be, anyways.

The flaws found in this animation are also found throughout the entirety of your sheet. Just look at the size comparison between your base and the animation - the base is huge, the frame's for the animation are tiny. You don't exactly notice this, though, because you have no frames that transition into the attacking animation - something that would be really, really useful, actually, should you plan on keeping that animation.

Poses like these don't add anything to your sheet, and should be an after thought, done long, long after you've already given the sheet what it needs to fulfill a number of different purposes (whether its for rom hacks, or sprite comics, or whatever).

You also have huge consistency issues in regards to the size of your sprites in comparison to the base sprite. Body size changes, limbs change lengths, the head shrinks, etc. The size of your hands aren't consistent, either, but a lot of that has to do with taking hands from Sonic Battle and Sonic Advance sprites.

In addition to that, you should look over your sheet for shading inconsistencies. Try to avoid the pillow-y shading and overuse of anti-aliasing as demonstrated by the animation in your post.

This is how she runs in sonic rush. That my objective, think you could help with that running animation? The art style is sonic advance not functionality.

...............I don't see it. WAIT please don't go into mad emo mode, I'm really serious I don't see the size change.
Gabe gave you real, solid and thorough advice. I'd highly suggest using it. You placed your work here so that it could improve and yet when the means to improve it are presented to you, you deny them.

Learn to take criticism, please it'll help you in the long run. Artistically and as a person. If you don't wish to get criticism and only want a pat on the head for posting something, I'd suggest finding a new board. We're not like that here.

This is how she runs in sonic rush.

I don't care - the running animation does not look good and I have linked you to resources to help you improve that running animation in tandem with acknowledging that you already have numerous fantastic models available to you in the animations found on sheets you have already taken things from.

I might be more inclined to help if you could demonstrate some, you know, initiative, by attempting to make a less awful looking animation, but as it stands, I'm already kind of fairly pissed off at you and your fucking obnoxious, terrible attitude, that you absolutely refuse to change despite having already been called out on several different times in two different threads no less.

Quote:That my objective, think you could help with that running animation?

Take my advice?? Use the resources I have linked you to?? I already am trying to help you - the only thing I haven't done yet is done the animation for you.

Quote:The art style is sonic advance not functionality.

If your sheet has no functionality then it is a worthless sheet and will not be accepted for display on the site because it will fail to have the wide variety of applications needed to find itself fulfilling the namesake of the website in which you wish to submit it to, that is to say that it will fail to be a resource, either for spriters, rom hackers, terrible smackjeeves comic book artists, or what have you. It will have no meaningful function, and will be absolutely worthless.

Try and make a sheet that isn't worthless.

...............I don't see it.

Step back and look harder. Look really, really hard. Her head is significantly smaller, he feet aren't as big as they are on the base sprite, the hands have shrunk, and the dimensions/construction of her head no longer match the size of the original base sprite - I mean, just look at the difference between the size of your base sprite and the size of the Sonic Advance sprite; the spriting style you are trying emulate and have actually taken pieces from in order to help better emulate:

She's huge. Your frames are tiny, and look better standing beside Sonic than they do your Blaze Base, which actually just lends more credence to the assumption that you have taken much more from Sonic Advance and Sonic Battle than you were initially willing to lead on (either that, or, you're just bad at keeping things consistent throughout the sheet, which isn't an unreasonable assumption, either, given what you've demonstrated so far).

Quote:WAIT please don't go into mad emo mode -

First of all, fuck you.

Second of all, fuck you.

Goddamn if you don't have the shittiest attitude on this website that I've seen in God knows how long. You come in here like a pompous ass and expect your work to be accepted automatically with lots of butt-patts and dick sucking because apparently this work being certified by *you* is supposed to carry so much weight that it would deter criticism aimed towards making your sheet of a higher quality, but, when we point out the faults of your sheet, or ask that you credit the resources you have used that went into making this sheet, you respond with outrage. How dare we point out that you have NOT credited ANYONE for ANY of the work YOU have taken to make this sheet! How dare we point out that your responses to our constructive criticism is ridiculous and incredibly defensive given that no one in this thread has done anything other than try to help you.

Well, until now, that is. No one has done anything other than try to help you until now. I am still trying to help you, but I am done trying to be super-polite-nice-nice-man-guy at this point. You have yet to respond to me or anyone else (at least, so far as I have noticed) respectfully as of yet.

Cut the condescending bullshit. You have not been polite. Shape up. I can't tell you to get out, because, well, I'm not a mod - I am in no position to make that kind of decision, but given how many people you've treated poorly in the span of fourteen posts, well, I can say without a doubt that very few people, if any, are going to miss you should you leave.

You want your work accepted? You want to be a part of the community? That's great. That's what everyone wants. We want you to have a better attitude. We want you to see your work on site. If you really, really want this too, then take what people are saying to heart. Try to respond to constructive comments in a constructive way that perpetuates the conversation rather than incite violent responses like the one I've given you because you couldn't stop being a condescending ass hat for two seconds, even for the guy that went all the way out of his way to try and help you with what you want to do in a more thorough and detailed way than anyone else who has responded has offered to you so far.

I have no idea what I'm looking at here.
Judging by the red dot on the forehead, Blaze's face is clearly facing the same direction on every frame.
...yet the entire rest of her body whips around in a kick, while her face... turns black? And her eyes turn yellow?
Fuck that, I'm shrinking the base. I just realized why I wanted smaller hands and feet in the first place. Matter of fact most sprites after official sprites get smaller anyways. Yes I'm lazy.

Thanks Cshad you've been the warmest welcome so far. I got a lot on my plate right now, I'm halfway finished but I'll be done by tomorrow night.

Not that anyone cares or wants to know as all.

Here we go. A better base for the animations. You know I actually made a running animation that got thumbs up once but I didn't like due to not being accurate to the games. I changed it a bit and it wasn't received very well. Oh well the past is the past. Next update coming as soon as I'm not busy.
What's with the randomly grey eyes?
SchAlternate I wanted to remove expressing from her face with that kick. I decided to keep the eyes on a last minute basic.

Alright this is what I got. It similar to the previous animation before I edited into something you thought was bad.

As for the arms moving like this or similar to sonic........... Cshad......No.
the arms, torso and hips are not swaying enough and her legs never seem to bend, they look like they just jelly about, the details (ears, hair, tail) don't seem to be reacting to any force they're just waving because they feel like it.

what you should first work on is the legs, there should be 4 key points per leg in a run animation,
High - The foot is under the body and its leg is straight. In this frame your character will appear tallest, otherwise you have a squishy torso or a squishy leg.
Take Off - The foot has left the ground and its leg is beginning to bend.
Mid - The leg is now bent and under the body on its way to kick out and plant.
Plant - The foot is now planting on the ground ready to go through the cycle again.
I don't quite get it, might I ask for an example?
for the background leg
high - pose 4
take off - pose 6
Mid - pose 8
Plant - pose 1
No......
you might want to be a bit more descriptive in your opposition, we aren't mind readers, if you disagree, let us know why, a simple "No" gives us nothing to work with.
