Decided not to put the chains, I couldn't do them in a way I liked. Got to the axe though, and the animation is now complete!

Time to move onto the next guy, the Jiangshi with that big, goof, blood-thirsty grin, Shun-Yu!

Ok, been busy on another project, so I haven't had much time with this one. Right now I'm still in the very early stages of the attack I'm doing for Shun-Yu.

Yes, very choppy and bad, but I just wanted to test out what it might look like. I'm even trying to do a few poses in front of a camera to get all the details I can when I finally move forward with this one.

On a more serious update: I made up the base sprite for Shroomette, the character that may or may not be a rip-off of a certain character. Here she is with the whole gang so far.

Is that Toadette?
You are close, SchAlternate, but that's really Shroomette.

Jappio explained earlier in the topic that he did base the character off of Toadette.
Hey, Shroomette is a total original design! She is my OC and is in no way based off anything. [/sarcasm]

But yeah, Shroomette there is a total knock off of Toadette. One day I might revamp her design, so she is actually original, but for the time being I just love Toadette's cute design as is.

Well, I haven't been updating, but let's change that. I'm actually getting pretty close to the end with this one.

Obviously I still need to add things like his ponytail back and you know, detailing those last two frames better. Hopefully I'm on the right track with this sprite.

Got some more work done. If all is good, the next step is just putting on the finishing touches as far as adding the ponytail.
So this might just be me or your style quirk, but the colors feel very dull on your sprites. Don't get me wrong they look great but the colors don't fit the silly looking style that well.
At the moment, I don't believe I'll be able to do ALL the sprites in the game (perhaps down the road I'll get to working on them, but it's a side plan), so I am trying to keep close to other styles that we might be borrowing enemy sprites for and such. Sticking near NISA's style they use, for games like Disgaea and Soul Nomad.

Well, I now have Shun-Yu done, seemingly at least.

The fact that his feet stay planted on the exact same spot probably causes it to be less fluid than it could be. Additionally, you could make the face angle change inwards a little while slashing. Adding a frame or two for recoil could also help.
I agree, his feet being like that makes it very unfluid, though I am attempting that on purpose. However he's an undead monster who has a very stiff body and in general is supposed to look weird/goofy, even in how he moves. Also his robes/dress is very stiff, not allowing for much typical leg movement.

I did though attempt adding another frame for some recoil. I also changed the angle on his head more.

I also have Shroomette! Isn't it cute how she's... spreading spores?
Very rough still, going to add a number of extra frames, two to the crouching probably and a few for while she's airborne and such. Also will have to make the spore glitter a little, maybe make some bigger ones.
I feel you could use some more shading in the top sprite when we're seeing the back. Feels pretty flat where the other frames don't.
/\ I agree, as you know the back has ondulations to accomodate the scapulas and the line markin the vertebra. If this dude is stiff due to his condition as a zombie AND thight clothing, I think that shading the back a little more would only make sense.

Well I tried adding the scapulas and such. Would this work out?

I also finished up the animation for Shroomette. Took awhile, but I'm quite happy with the result.

Well, I haven't done a lot of work lately, but I managed to start another character, this time the White and Black mage Ray:

Though not much has been done yet, I wonder if I have too much more to go:

I started with her magic animation, but really, outside of a frame or two in the middle, I don't know if I need much more. Her physical attack won't be much either, as she is probably just going to weakly swing her rod. Then again, that's just what fits the character I guess.
It seems a tad abrupt; can't there be a couple of frames dedicated to showing the movement of her arms, instead of them just instantly appearing in their final positions?
