The Metal Slug Database is down, and I have no clue on how long it will be down. So, without further ado, I present my custom sprites.

Guns made by Commander Evil and ASCAWR. Knife made by me.
Base sprite credit goes to their respective owners.
The sprites aren't bad(except the Ghillie Sniper), it's just the colors and animation needs some work to be in Metal Slug style if that's what you're going for, you should get them all to match up with that flying animating ship/plane/thing(which looks like something straight out of Metal Slug).
The problem with most metal slug style sprites is that they're made from something used as a base with things recolored or put on top of them or a group of things is glued together. which would be the case for these (well except for this one.... Because this one is from Gunforce 2 Geo Storm.)[Image: transport.gif]

A Truly Done Metal Slug style sprite would look like something from metal slug... But not easy to define from being something already in the series. A good way to do it is to build the sprite from the ground up with Metal Slug sprites at the side to be used as reference. basically... You could have something like this as the result: [Image: ccd1243dcb8642c6cce8125d858b1a1a.png]

These aren't really supposed to look like Metal Slug. This is more like my army.

About the Ghillie sniper...dude, they're supposed to look like that. I'd like to see what you have in mind about trying it. Btw, that ship is out og gunforce 2. I animated it, but Dan ripped the sheet.

As I wasn't able to recreate a grassy suit. I was able to make a pretty good camo soldier without using mishmashed colors all over it

Aha. See? It isn't easy to make a Ghillie Sniper. My sniper is the best Ghille version I ever saw. I tried looking for one, but I came up with CRAP. And the sprites do look reminiscent of Metal Slug alright. But there are sprites I made that nobody will see for a while (hint spoiler alert) like Navy SEAL's or medics.
So according to your logic.... a Camouflage suit meant to look like a patch of grass looks like an incomprehensible mash of pixels with a nose on it? You can barely define it as something human.

But I'm not here to fight about who can sprite a Soldier better. I'm here to offer my knowledge of the Metal Slug art style to help you become a spriter altogether
First of all, I'm not an expert when it comes to this style, but I know for sure it's hard to replicate the style. This Ghillie Suit that you have made is not really in style if you compare it to the original style, it's like Hiyna said, a mash of pixels. We're not here to be harsh and hate on new spriters, we're here to help them become better by giving them feedback. With that being said, I gave a shot and made an edit just to point out some things for you to improve on!

When someone is wearing a ghillie suit, the big thing is to blend in with environment so the enemy can't see you. What I did was looking up some environmental stuff from Metal Slug to get a hint on how the grass/leafs looked and the overall style. I recommend that you do the same, study the style more in depth, how things are shaded, lightsources, details, palettes and just make sprite after sprite after sprite until you nail it Smile

and monstarules, stop being dense when people are actually trying to help you out. This is not a place to show your sprites and say "there's more coming, wait for it". This is not a place to gather interest, it's mainly a place to show sprites and get tips on how to make it better. The interest comes naturally as you go fix your stuff.

The most important thing on making a camouflaged suit is to make it blend with the environment. Therefore, you should have referenced how the Metal Slug games draw trees and bushes. You can't just wing the texturing out, that will just make it look like a pile of barf

your tanks and mechs are subpar too, in the sense that it really looks flat compared to everything. Especially this

which is pillowshaded and has too mush straight lines in it. Of course, those are artificial mechs and sure there will be straight lines and robotic looks, but use this sprite you posted as reference:

It doesn't have abuse of black outlines as yours, and there's shading and texturing to make it look nice and tridimensional. You'll need to master antialiasing to make 'thinner than 1px' lines, and those fine details.

I also am not familiar with mechs (especially those with Metal Slug style) but by doing something in its style (or similar to it), you will need to step it up and increase detail and accompany it with really smooth animations.
Sorry for getting back to this so late. I'm not being dense...my Ghillie sniper is supposed to look like a walking bush >_> there is an old sig where I have one blended in really good because it looks like its a grassy/bushy suit. I'll find it...
but... It DOESN'T look like a walking bush... It looks more like it would be useful for hiding up against something like this [Image: 123456connor_colorful-paint-splatter.png] just with more grey with a very slight touch of dark green
Ghillie Sniper looks like a Missingno cosplayer.
