I'm on my phone so excuse my lack of quotes for context.

First, in reference to oversized sheets being scaled down, it needs to happen and there's no logical way to let you skip the sheet view and go straight to the full sized version. The reason for this is that, in order to make the layout work properly, any content beyond a certain width in the middle column gets cut off. It's an unfortunate side effect of the three column setup. If it helps though, I can remove the new window/tab requirement from the full sized sheet.

As for edits to existing sheets, non-staff will have a "Submit Revision" button where staff see the "Edit" button right now. It's currently hidden simply because the function hasn't been fully written yet. It's coming soon though.
Not having a tab pop up would be a dream actually (if that's what you mean that is).
It isn't a big deal for me personally, but I agree with having the full sheet come up in the same tab. People can always open it in a new tab manually if they want, anyway.

Actually it might. See when we reject someone's custom sprites, we move their submission topic to the Spriting and Pixelart board. So a topic to fix their sprites is made whether they want it or not.

With this system they would get rejected... but might not ever bother posting their sprites on the forums to get them fixed and become a better spriter.

This is the only problem I see with this system. I don't think rips will have a problem, but I do see the potential of alienating new potential sprite artists.

This isn't a problem with the system, it's a problem with your hypothetical submitter. It's their choice not to post on the forum just as it would have been their choice to ignore the moved thread when things were done the old way.

I'm really not sure why everyone is so hung up on this. If you are already confident in your sheets, just upload them directly to the site. You can still post them in your own thread if you like to keep track of your submissions like that. If you're not, post on the forum first, ask for feedback, and then upload to the site. Nothing really changes here other than how your content actually makes it onto the site.
Well, I'm glad that the submit thingy is fixed.

It gives much easier access to posting sheets and new games to make sheets for!

So now I'm thinking of a whole bunch of new games and sheets I can add for a wider variety of sprites and to maybe even show some folk games they never heard of!

How do you guys feel about the submit thingy ( yeah that is what I am permanently calling it )?

Well, now I'm off to do some stuff, so...... uh........

Bye!
Discussion about the submit feature (opinions, problems, etc) all pretty much goes here. So yeah, this thread isn't really necessary.
Fixed.

I'm just making an honest observation. I know how new spriters can be. A huge reason why new spriters join this community in the first place is to try and submit their customs sprites. Most don't stick around after rejection but some actually stay and improve.

While I still think you're over-thinking this, we did just add a new reason for rejection, specific to the Custom / Edited section. The message sent with that particular rejection encourages artists to improve with the community's help and links them directly to the Spriting and Pixel Art board so that should hopefully help people understand that rejection isn't a final thing while also inviting them to become active in the community.
Well, through the help of someone very awesome in Chat, I have a much more efficient way of organizing the Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume sprites I've had for like 2 years now. Which means that if I can get SPIN Sprite Sheet Maker (links for it are currently down xD), I'll be able to make much more organized sheets for the characters I've already uploaded (and work on new ones xD). Unfortunately, despite being a DS title, it doesn't come with frame off-sets, so I can't really set them up for animations still, but it will be much less... hectic. Things should be same-spaced apart, etc.

In this case, do I need to bump my original submissions topic (or would I make a new one, as it's last post was a year and a half ago xD), or is there a way for us to submit an update through this tool
Submitting updates to sheets is coming, and it'd be preferred if you bumped your old topic to prevent forum clutter.
Are some sheets an "instant approval" of sorts? I'm adding more Dust: An Elysian Tail character sprites (that are a small filesize and dimension), and they seem to already be live right after they finish uploading. I don't see them in pending, either.
Some members have instant approval priviledges, yes.
Okay, thanks; just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to inconvenience someone by continuing to upload sheets if that was a bug. Smile
