My thoughts on demo's

I haven't gotten the demo yet mainly because my TV's busted but as soon as I do I'll post my thoughts.

I'm sorry, seriously? You played the demo and took notes, actual notes, to build an argument on why your opinion is right (and opinions on subjective stuff like entertainment [AKA NOT FACTS] cannot be wrong before you 'cool kids' post hilarious comics about opinions being wrong). Dude, it's a game. If you review games for a living fine, if it's just for forum arguments - well, that's concerning.

And in all honesty, even if this was the best game ever I just don't believe you'd ever like it. Ever. And you didn't. So that's that. I don't need a document (with references to other people who played and discussed it with you) or anything like that. Just a "I didn't like it [insert a few reasons, hopefully without aggression for a change]" and then well, move on. There's no point in posting against people who do like it and why they shouldn't like it. That's like the whole crazy Christians (don't worry - only the crazy ones) using evil clowns to tell children that sex before marriage will make them be burnt in hell forever. There's just no need.

"Sadly" I missed the insults before the post was edited, but whatever - I've came to expect such behaviour from you. Just chill out and have a cup of tea or something.
Goemar, drop it, the "stop insulting people" was directed to you as well.

"forum arguments" are actually a pretty low priority for me; if you notice, there was a period of time where i barely even came here. the only other forum i bother to go to more than once every couple of months is selectbutton and the discussions there are of a different quality, as is the ~consensus~.

i wrote little things on my computer to organize my thoughts because game design is actually an interest of mine, and i'm involved in the (slow) development of several games, and sometimes i write articles and reviews, too.

skype logs stuff automatically actually

ok. humans are defined by their biology, biology is largely 99.99999999% consistent, and biology is responsible for our perceptions. et cetera.

I've liked things I didn't expect to like before, yo. If props are due I'll give them - but if they're not, I absolutely will not. My opinion has changed before - for much of the development period of Dragon's Dogma I thought it looked pretty shit. But now I'm hella interested in it, even if i do wish that it were more stylistically interesting. Anyway, back to DmC: There are things about this that are mechanically very questionable (especially comparatively), and there's nothing there aesthetically to suggest anything of worth. That's all this comes down to, and you being disrespectful has nothing to do with it.

I was momentarily insulting because that kind of disrespect is also a form of insult; but I decided during transit from school to home that it wasn't worth it. I'm not interested in going down that road with you, dude.

Proton kind of got onto why having two buttons do the same thing is a waste. Another issue is that its not particularly "confident".
Hm,

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

DMC Demo Feed Back interview
Mostly sounds like question dodging in all honesty. I mean I can imagine them doing some small tweaks at feedback but nothing major, specially at this stage in the game.

Wait, what? Ok yes biology is responsible for a lot, but on what we find entertaining? I mean culture, life experience and upbringing surely play a bigger roll. If biology was responsible than white people blacking their faces would be hilarious still (which it really isn't). The rest of your post, sure yeah - that's fine. But saying biology is responsible for what films and games people enjoy is pretty out there. Humans aren't machines man, we may all be 99% made of the same stuff, but where all pretty damn unique at the same time. If someone likes something I think sucks I don't think it's because of a biological reason, that's just because they like it - and I don't. Their really is no bigger picture, or at least not one which is worth finding.
Played the demo, loved the game. Watched some scenes hated none of it. I think this is just a taste issue as to what people find DMC is or what it should be. This is what we're getting though, and I'll be honest in terms of writing I can imagine a lot worse.
Yeah, I might have overreacted a little (understatement), but the new Dante leaves a foul taste in the mouths of the classic Dante fans (me included).

But I'll tell you what's bullshit, even if it's a legal thing with Capcom or whatever, I don't know, but that in Battle Royale, even with the extra unlockable costumes and DLC costumes, you only have the DmC Dante and not the classic Dante. I don't mind the emo being there as long as you have the option to pick your favorite.
Not that I'm remotely interested in PSASBR, but it's the principle.
He... Doesn't even look emo, seriously I had a very similar haircut to his not to long ago, and that's not emo. It looks much more punk than anything else to me
I think Flannel and I are the only ones who see new Dante as a much more realistic Dante than anyone else. Perhaps it's the friends we've had or because we appreciate the anime roots Dante's original design comes from but realize he's been unrealistic from onset or perhaps it's the fact we just acknowledged young punk behavioral heroes. Whatever the cask Nick it's not a bad thing to hate new Dante at all. Lots of people hate/hated Raiden and are buying Metal Gear Rising.

Anyway, have you guy PLAYED this demo 4 modes with like a 30 minute level with secret doors and stuff with trials inside? Also boss mode? This games gonna be so good. I like the depth of the combo system, and word on the virtual vine is stuff only get's deeper but I do not see how that's possible. In any case demo's good games probably going to be better, cheers to everyone who wrote this game off you'll be missing out. *Drinks*

Omegajak, I agree.
Okay so finally played the demo.

I don't mind the new Dante, design, dialogue or anything - doesn't bother me.
The combat feels like a less smooth version of Heavenly Sword (Heavy Sword is now Demon Scythe, Chain Blades are now Angel Blades) with the gun feeling thus far pretty pointless. The pacing also seems to be god awful, from combat to wandering around with little to do. Killing the cameras just seems dull.

The boss played fine though and was pretty enjoyable.
A in-depth look at combat.

Feeling kinda SF/God Hand/Viewtiful Joe up in here...Which is to say they seem to have built the battle system correctly it's just going to take muscle memory to get use to a lot of cancelling. I imagine Virgil will be just as if not more impressive.

EDIT: e-eggz.
Been getting some damn good reviews....
Honestly? I've been looking around and more than just a few of the "good" reviews read/smell a bit like Capcom's fat stacks of cash in the reviewer's pocket.
As much as I thought I would never say these words... I'm going with Adam Sessler.

This review's really in line with my first impressions from the demo were... I could even feel the issue that he had with the combat being limited by enemies that could only be hit with certain attacks, especially playing on the hardest difficulty. And the writing is atrocious, just like I knew it was going to be.
Welp, I guess I'll pass. No big loss for me.

I wonder if anyone's forcing themselves to enjoy this game to justify the internet arguments they made against fans of the old games who weren't happy with the direction this game was going? I hope not, that'd be sad.
