It's a really cool sprite, but does Pulseman count as a rip-off? I've never heard of him being a ripoff of Zero before, much less Mega Man.

He could be referring to the "Pulseman, Megaman" relation.

but still, isn't the point of the sprite not to be a character that already exists, but rather an original rip-off? Pulseman exists and therefore isn't a rip-off.

I don't know, I was just saying what I thought he meant, I could easily be wrong.
I honestly don't see Pulseman as a rip-off of Zero and vice-versa at all (they only seem to have a couple design similarities) so I couldn't tell for sure.

We'll just have to see until Metaru posts, but yes: the point is to take an existing and well-known videogame character (regardless of whether it's a rip-off itself or not) and create a (possibly humorous) variant.
