On request and help of one of my friends I'm returning to one of my older projects I never got the chance to start up. Returning to it, I am only continuing the sprite sheet rather than starting anew.
its fairly low spec aiming for a retro look, 32x32 frames, short frame counts for animations, etc.

Here is the sheet for the main character so far:
EDIT: I am revisiting my old sheets to try and clean them up to stick in a portfolio of sprite works. so for a short time I'll be working on a few sheets simultaneously, this one in particular I was very proud of at the time of making and am still quite proud of it. here is the updated sheet so far with an animated gif showing near all animations in the sheet as they are intended.

The attack needs more power behind it. There's no weight to the movement, so it looks more like he's opening a box or something than attacking.
agreed, the attack was thrown together in seconds, its a lazy mess, I'll fix it up now, I'll update the sheet later when I've got more animations added on,
I'll be aiming for;
quick step 2 frames/ double jump 2 frames/ wall slide/ wall hop/ corner grapple/ climb corner
monkey bars 4 frames/ wall climb 4 frames
bar swing 6 frames/ look down/ look up
I'll probably use the top row (the base sprite and pallet atm) for GUI items, health, power, lives, etc.

EDIT: [Image: alt_attack_by_pushbombshell-d4stykl.gif] new try at the attack animation, there is more force behind it and it seems to animate well, I also changed how the blades slash is to accommodate the projectile (where as before it was just swinging a glowstick if anything.)

all I've added is quick step (the green version I will be messing with adding a cape-ish thing, but long story short that will echo behind the character during the quick step)
double jump (double jump uses the shields counter ability and likewise the counter flash will show on top when used)

I've been concentrating more on getting it playable than looking good, it should be playable by the end of the day so most of that will be over with and I'll be able to concentrate on content.
The new animations bar the attack have not been tested animating yet.
I really like these. The fact they're simple yet smooth. The revamped slash does have some power behind it. Keep this up. I like it.

EDIT: frames to be changed: the air dash animation, damage taken, landing from jump, air attack.
