In working on my YouTube videos, I've depended heavily on the Suikoden sprites posted here (many thanks for them!) but there were some I couldn't find here, and so I had to start ripping some of my own. I thought I might offer some of them up here for other people who might want them.

I'm sorry about the transparency; I was making the sheets for my own use, and the transparency made it easier for me to use them. Several of them have text on them that's invisible when you view them on here...

Most importantly, here's Teo McDohl, who somehow didn't get included in the massive Suikoden section here.

I also have a huge number of NPCs. The file is too large to display here without messing up the appearance of the post, so it's just a link.

An assortment of soldiers in the employ of the Scarlet Moon Empire...and a couple of undead ones formerly in Imperial service...

The soldiers of the Liberation Army are just as important, of course!

The Dragon Knight NPCs are in a separate file from the other NPCs, 'cause the other file was so big already. Tongue I probably should have put them in the same file as the Liberation Army guys, now that I think of it...

I think Futch's Black is already covered, but how about Milia's Thrash?

These ones really interested me, 'cause they're not used in the game!

These are a few character sprites that didn't make it into the sheets for the characters. Although I may have put a few in here that *did*; sorry about that if so. But I know that Camille killing Milich wasn't on either of their sheets, and those seemed like important ones.

I've probably ripped some other stuff from Suikoden that isn't up here yet, but these are the ones that were ready.

I've also started getting ready for the later videos I'll be making with Suikoden II sprites, so I've gotten a few Suikoden II sprites that aren't here yet as well...

The color version of the opening is again too large to post without messing up the look of the post.

Rowd's combat sprites, which unfortunately don't include a special defeat sprite, which is gonna make it hard when I have Flik kill him... Sad
[Image: Rowdcombatsprite.png]

This one I found at the Mercenary Fort. It's some kind of alternate costume for "Riou", but I'm not sure why or anything. It's not even stored in the file in the same way as the other sprites; it's in the same format as the ones from the first game, so maybe it's an early test sprite or something? I dunno, but I thought it was interesting, so I thought I'd share while I was at it.

And, finally, best of all, the missing combat and sleeping sprites for my favorite vampire ever! (Unless she converts Nash at some point after Suikoden III. Then he'll be my favorite. Tongue ) But unfortunately, Sierra, too, makes the forum go all weird on me. Sorry; in future efforts--if there are future efforts--I'll make sure they're vertically extended rather than horizontally.
http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd37...prites.png

Anyway, in the ripped and unformatted things I've got on my hard drive, I have various NPCs--ones not covered in the earlier post on NPCs--and especially things like the dying NPCs at Ryube, since I'll be needing those to animate that section of the drama CD, so if anyone is interested, I can get those ready at some point, too.

In any case, I hope I've done everything correctly? This site has been very helpful for me, and I'd like to be helpful back, if I can. Smile
These are great, and make me feel really crap at sprite ripping! These are two of my favourite games, but I guess I missed some of those "less obvious" sprites. Thanks man!

One thing though, if you wouldn't mind - could you edit my sheets on the site to include these so that I can reupload them - just close off the area of sprites that you ripped, and put a note saying which bits were ripped by you Smile

Just make organisation a bit easier Smile

If that's cool, of course...
Sure, no problem. May take me a little while, depending on how things go over the upcoming week--Thanksgiving + NaNoWriMo = big mess--but I can certainly add them into the old sheets. Do you want me to do anything to the other sets, like Teo and the Imperial soldiers?

BTW, I forgot about the dragon horses:

Once again, though, really, thanks so much for all the Suikoden sprites you posted! My animation of the radio drama would have died a sad and miserable death if I'd been working from screenshots and captured video footage. And I'd never have even realized sprite ripping was possible without this site.

Walk cycle should be correct. Nice sprites =)
By the way, does the game have dragon horses without the rider?

Edit: wait, your version was darker?
I was going to mention I thought all of these looked a little dark...
Unfortunately, there are no dragon horses in the game without riders on them. It's surprisingly easy to cut and paste other sprites in the place of the Imperial soldier, though. I've done that with quite a few members of the cast, for my YouTube videos. (The ones with the capes were the tricky ones.)

As to the sprites looking darker, you're quite right; they all look darker in the browser than they do in the game, or in Photoshop. That's the part I don't quite get. If they looked darker there, too, I'd think I just ripped them wrong. Maybe I did something wrong in Photoshop itself? Is there any way to prevent color corruption in Photoshop?
I'm sure it has something to do with your transparency stuff. If you can't prevent the darker appearance, just do it without transparency.
No, it's not the transparency that's to blame for the darkness: look at Rowd, or click on the link for the Sierra sprites. (Or, for that matter, look at the Sierra sprites in my avatar. Those transformational images should be pure white.) They're too dark. I'm not sure what's causing it, though. I should mess around with the settings on Photoshop and see if I can get it to save without looking darker. There are a lot of options when I "save as" a .PNG, so maybe I'm choosing the wrong one. They're like interlace options or something? I don't know what the terms mean, so usually just say "none" or go with whatever's already selected.

I'll mess around with it over the next few days and see if I can figure out what I've been doing wrong. (It probably doesn't help that I'm using an older version of Photoshop, but that thing's expensive!) If I can figure it out, I'll go ahead and post some of the completed sheets.
Right, I saved a couple of images onto my computer and they turn up lighter than what is shown on the topic.

It seems that Photoshop is adding some sort of gamma correction to your rips (apparently the source of what makes PNGs darker than they should). I don't know how to get rid of gamma correction in Photoshop since I never used it but how I got it removed was using Irfanview, resaved the image using the PNGOut plugin (this plugin optimises the PNG as much as possible without losing quality) and that got the gamma correction removed for some reason.

Also does the image above show up lighter than the other one in the topic?

Yes, that one looks perfect! That's what it looked like before I saved it!

Okay, gamma correction. Now that I know what to look for, I'll look through the menus on Photoshop and see if I can figure out what to turn off (or on) to fix the problem.

If I can't, then I'll check out the program you mentioned and fix it the way you did.

Thanks!

Edit: Okay, so I poked around in Photoshop, and I couldn't find any way to prevent the gamma correction thing, but I did notice that it only seems to appear in some programs--Photoshop doesn't show it any differently from the original, neither does my animation program--so the data is still basically preserved in the file. The upshot of this is that I can open the files in Photoshop, select all, and then copy the data into Paint and save it as a .png and it comes out fine. It's a little awkward and inelegant, but it gets the job done, and that's what matters, right? So I'll get to fixing things up and hopefully have the new versions tomorrow. Meant to have them today, but I got distracted by a broken washing machine. Sad
COOL Smile Rowd battle sprite FTW!!!! too bad no dying action but it's ok haha Smile and nice work for making the unusual spriets ripped like the alt costume for Riou haha Smile i might use your Rowd cause im gonna "try" to make a fan game hahaha if i can Smile
Still really excited to see these in their right colours. If we don't hear from you in a week or so I'll probably fix these up for you and put them on the site Smile
Okay, here's the first batch of color-corrected sprites. First, Teo McDohl!

Then the Suikoden NPCS. Link only 'cause of the size of the file. Oh, and it turns out that I added the Liberation Army soldiers to this one when I was putting it together, so they're not by themselves anymore.

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd37...NPCs-1.png

Then we have the imperial soldiers, with the dragon horse added into the sheet while I was at it.

Then the Dragon Knight NPCs and Thrash together on one sheet.

Then the unused sprites.

I'll get to working on combining the other sprites into your sheets later tonight, or tomorrow sometime. I have a question, though. The sheets for Riou, Jowy and Nanami are already enormous, so can I leave the color opening as its own sheet, or should I still try to add them into those sheets? Also, is the alternate/unused Riou something I should be adding into his sheet, or not?
All of your sheets had problems with black dots within the sprites, I've corrected that. I've also cut down blank space (Unused sprites) and changed the background colour to a consistent one (Dragon Knights & Thrash). Further changes: Added the assembled Dragon Horse instead of the pieces and changed the partly illegible font to Verdana 7.

I've also made icons:
