I finally got around to starting mine. I chose Charmander and it's been much easier than I thought it would be. Metal Claw destroyed Brock and Mega Kick (learned outside... some cave) OHKO'ed both of Misty's Pokemon.
I didn't let Charmeleon evolve to Charizard before Lt. Surge, so he was pretty simple. I just picked up Eevee and evolved it into Jolteon, and beat Ericka, so we'll see how the Rocket Game Corner and Lavender Town go.
