hi im trying to sprite again and i suck

seriously, though, I half-want to keep the suit solid black, but the other half says I should try to shade it with a dark grayscale like I did with the skin.

And another part of me says "hey he's got color now you should do the color" but that's being stifled by the fact that I kinda like the black/white/red thing going in Madworld in general.

I definitely have not much of an idea where else I want to go with this particular sprite (besides animate it, of course !!), so I'm turning to you guys.

Also yeah the skintone looks kinda dark, probably going to attempt fixing that too (Paint7 is weird with the eraser recoloring :F)

Help?
Why is tiny pointy legs so popular in sprites these days.

Now for some real advice. I feel the white stripes on his outfit are too bright and don't look like they are a part of the suit.
looks like an old man with white, thick eyebrows.

increase contrast on the skin tones and remove some pixels to make it less cluttered.

god dammit I wasn't seeing any of this before but now I can't unsee it

I'm toying around with a lot of things now, like removing the shading completely from Jack's skin (at least until I can figure out a good way to shade it), removing some random pixels from the jacket, and just ever so slightly toying with the palette (the two lighter tones of gray were darkened).

Anyone have any good suggestions on how I should get some of this shading done? I'm pretty much stuck at the face and I'm thinking of just scrapping it and getting a new one if I can't get it to stop looking like an old man :F
Okay now the white lines on his suit would be appropriate. Before with the gray skin it didn't look right. You should go back and put those white lines on his suit. Sorry about that.
His left leg (our right) looks like its broken or something. Either that, or its inhuman, and has multiple joints. It only has the multiple joint look when zoomed in, but normal sized it just looks awkward.
I'm not the best at explaining things, but I hope you see what I mean...
hi still working on this

thickened the legs (to make them look less broken), figured out how I want to shade the face, repositioned the left arm (which is still giving me trouble), etc.

the jacket is already the darkest black, and trying to lighten it up a bit looks kinda weird to me, idk, suggestions are welcome !!

I'm really close to moving on to the animating everything ever phase, stuff will probably be fixed up more as I figure out what works and what doesn't for the animations

yeah
Starting to look good! I don't know about those boots though. I think they stick out too much.
I like that they do that, and I'm really liking the way this is shaping up!
It's pretty good as it is, to be honest.

I personally would like to see this animated, but that's you're call.

This. But if they didnt stick out like that they'd be pretty much non existant. I'd suggest fixing that.
You did however greatly improve the legs Big Grin
Ehhhhmmmm I like the boots, they look awesome. Big Grin
