Besides having a portable version of one of your favorite games is a good thing in my opinion.
That's not the issue here. We're not calling OoT 3D an inherently bad thing, or even a bad game, but the fact that it's a port when there potentially could have been technical improvments made is a valid topic. Liking something is not the same thing as burying your head in the sand in regards to its flaws.
So in reality the game itself would be an enhanced port if we're have to be straight forward about it.

I can see the logic there at least.

Well I do believe they fixed the whole Iron Boots issue.

Welp, put away your arguments everyone, they fixed the whole iron boots issue, show's over.
irony aside(puns as well)

the iron boots and the useless shops are pretty much the only thing you could ever need to revisit in this port of OOT.

pretty sure the shops are still useless, as with every zelda game

yeah, you might buy a key item or an eaten shield once or twice but seriously, who actually uses the shops in any zelda game
serious question

if you actually need to use the shop for anything that isn't a key item/shield/required to progress, you suck at zelda games and probably shouldn't be playing them.
im kind of disappointed with the whole "can't figure it out? game will tell you" mentality that nintendo has adopted. yeah, i get it, some people are gonna have trouble with a puzzle and might need help, but if the only way to help them is to literally show them how to do it, then it kills the challenge and makes succeeding feel totally unrewarding

these hint movies sound stupid, and the fact that navi apparently constantly bombards you with requests to watch them makes it even worse

nothing takes you out of the atmosphere of the game more than the game telling you to use one of its functions - sometimes this can be done in a funny fourth-wall-breaking way, but this sounds obnoxious

No it doesn't. There's absolutely no evidence or reason why it would. Especially if this port doesn't sell as well as they'd like.

Thank you sir.

May I have another? Better yet let me re-phase myself so people take my word as hopeful optimism, rather than stone cold fact.

I am only excited about OoT3Ds because it's sequel Majora's Mask was my favorite Zelda game one I personally owned. I loved that game to death and remain dangerously optimistic of it also being re-made or ported or whatever the hell everyone was talking about for a bit there. There's no indication of this game getting a 3Ds port/whatever but I hope it will be made so.

It's actually kind of insulting to children. 10 year old children around the world were deciphering the Water Temple 10-12 years ago. Suddenly children are too dumb to make it through the Great Deku Tree? For shame Nintendo!
games should go back to the nes days where they don't tell you anything at all and the game just STARTS and you have to figure everything out yourself

Ironically enough last night me and my friend were playing the first Zelda game and were immediately put off by the lack of all direction. No Map, Only a magic sword in tow, and time. After bout an hour of wandering we stopped playing. Keep in mine though we are both spoiled brats who's first Zelda games were not the first Zelda.

Navi is useful for first timers I don't think she failed at her job in the original installment of OOT. At the same time she would go towards inconspicuous things and then you'd notice how out of the ordinary they were and immediately do a thing. Why give them a video guide on what that thing is? If you already know your suppose to be where you are in the game then you either have the needed item or knowledge or you missed something.

Am i the only person who Navi never bothered in OOT?
I used to think it was cool she would tell you things about enemies if you asked her.

Actually, I do agree with the first zelda being too directionless.

I think lttp got the formula right. While it was technically on a path and it told you where to go (at the beginning) it never held your hand.

"Help, link! I'm in the castle!"
And then it went from there. You were still free to explore.

As far as Navi goes, I liked the idea. Navi was fine; the problem was the HELLO! HEY! HEY! HEY! every five seconds whenever you were in hyrule field or just dicking around and not playing the main quest.

It was nice that she told you where to go, but it should have been on an "I'll ask you for help when I need it" thing rather than "WE NEED TO GO TO THIS PLACE NOW COME ON LINK LET'S GO"
The only thing that bothered me about Navi was the constant "HEY LISTEN" or "WATCH OUT" that happened every five seconds of the game.
My first and always favorite Zelda game was Oracle of Ages. Like Link to the Past, it never held your hand, and I still play it to this day. OOT has never been my favorite, while it still is a great game, I've enjoyed other Zelda titles such as Wind Waker, LttP, OOA, MM, and TP more.
