I've been using Virtualboy Advance for about a year now. Recently, I have discovered some issues while playing some Gameboy Color games. Several ROMs I've downloaded either lag or have small graphic errors. At first I thought this was a problem with the roms themselves until I played them on another emulator and they all worked just fine. I haven't had this problem (thus far at least) with original Gameboy or GBA roms in VBA. I need VBA to remove layers so I can rip sprites easier.

Does anyone know how to fix these errors in Virtualboy Advance or know of any other Gameboy/Color emulators that can remove layers? Any help is much appreciated.
The very late GBC-era games don't run well in emulators. Games like Shantae and Harry Potter Philosopher's Stone will make VBA throw a bitchfit; along with the Lameboy emulator for DS homebrew.

There is a dedicated GBC emulator out there that definitely runs Shantae; but I can't remember the name of it at present.
Have you messed with any of the settings or is everything at their default?

I changed the frame rate and filters after reading that might help, but it did little, if anything. I reset everything to default after that.

Yep, all the roms that are screwing up are from 2000-2001.

The emulator you're talking about might be BGB. It runs all the roms that have been giving me problems really well. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any layer removal or pallet editing, so it makes ripping difficult.
