Hey guys long time no see eh?

So... I really wanted a model of Garnet from FFIX but I couldn't find any sort of converter or even a viewer for the models of FFIX anywhere. So I gave up and decided to scratch model her but there were imperfections I wasn't happy with at all. So I was working on improving my scratch model when I had an idea.

This idea led me to successfully ripping Garnet's model!

Problem is the model is flat entirely. And because of stupid backface culling I had to do two rips to get her back side.

So I'm currently slowly moving each individual vertex to a more proper place to recreate the lost Z-axis depth. But as you may have guessed this is an extremely slow and long process. Though eventually I'll get there.

So my question is, Does anyone know any method of fixing flat models even if it's not perfect that can save me at least a little time? I know there is that 3dsmax thing that if you get two rips from different angles it puts them together. Problem is that to do this they have to be in the same exact animation frame, and that's quite impossible with how I'm ripping them, so this method is useless to me.

Thanks for any help you can provide at all!
You could find the depth of the model in a savestate of its captured frame. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know where you would have to look in the savestate to find that depth. Maybe you should ask at the PS23DFormat wiki:

Well I'm playing and ripped the model from my psp. As such I don't have the ability to do a savestate at any time so I don't have the ability to do that I guess. Still thanks for trying.
You ripped that from your PSP? Why not rip it on your PC from a PSX emulator using 3D Ripper DX? Just seems a bit more simple.
1. My psp can be played anywhere and my save file is on it.
2. 3D Ripper DX doesn't work with the current PSX emulators as they don't use the correct Directx.
3. 3D Ripper DX rips models distorted and so I would get a distorted flat rip instead of a properly proportioned flat rip.
I tried getting the models aswell.. very few ps1 emus support dx9 mode.. and 3dVIA known for getting full 3d rips from pcsx2.. didnt work.

I'm afraid besides converting the models from memory.. fixing them would be the only solution.

however, theres not man characters.. 3 main ones?

post up the flat rips, and I'll fix em up
Alright. Like I said though these have some form of back-face culling where it doesn't render what isn't currently visible on screen. Much like Sonic the Fighters if you ever tried ripping that. So I have to get a front and back rip and combine them.

If your still interested I'll pm you some.
yeah, thats not an issue, just manually repair both, then merge to two meshes.

send them over, and I'll see how bad it is.
Models sent. For now I'm off to bed.
Double Post Protection. =P
