We've done this sort of duel before (and on earlier Pixeltendo) but, I wanted to try another. It's always good fun.

basically the challenge is to resize any NES sprite x4, add three of your own colors to its palette, then reshade it while keeping the blocky shape. ex:

You can check out this thread for more examples
Here's the very first thread of this challenge

other Rules :
-The max amount of colors you can have is 6; whatever colors were in the original sprite + your own colors. i.e., if you do a multilayered sprite like say Mega Man, you can only add 1 of your own colors. Please note that this rule is different than the original rules.
-the colors you add are your own colors. They do NOT have to be from the NES palette.

Anyone's free to enter, just post your entry here by January 31st, 11:59 EST.

Good luck, have fun, etc.
That sounds fun and different. I'll try this out.
sure, I need to get back into spriting anyways
Wait, can we change the entire inside of the sprite? Like in the Samus example, the black on the inside was kept blocky. Is that because black was the background color and you chose not to use black in your 6 pallet?

Like if I was doing that same sprite (I'm not going to, this is just an example) and I used black in addition to the red, orange, and green; then would I be able to edit away those black pixels inside the sprite?
i wouldn't think so, on the NES that wasn't black but transparent
Sounds like fun.
I call DK!

That was pretty fun
I may update this later

Not in cases like Samus. Samus's black is actually the background, NOT part of the sprite. You CANNOT fill outside of the sprite's shape, nor use your background color as part of your palette; these both count as modifying the shape.

If you did something like SMB3 Mario for example, you would be able to completely modify that sprite's inside, since it doesn't use any transparency / background tricks.

Also, cool entry Moneyman.

Well, I tried.
Alright, well I'm doing Alex from River City Ransom and my sprite has four colors in it, but none are transparency (I went online and found videos of the game to check, all four colors move like). So I'm assuming that it's a multilayered sprite and therefore using all four colors it came with. Is that allowed?
Yeah. According to the rules, you are allowed to have a maximum of six colors, and all of the original sprite's colors must be used. So, if your sprite has four colors, you are allowed to add two new ones.
Ok, finished.

I thought of that at first, but the sprites in that game have four colors :o

Mickey is a pretty neat character, but the ducks are best.
i remember spending more time picking a proper sprite to revamp rather than revamping the sprite itself

nghhh
