I rented it, the fatalities and X-ray combos in the demo made me really uneasy, but I've gotten past it and

man this game owns. play as smoke every day
i had mk2 and mk3 for snes back in the day (remember when games were $80?!). i lost interest after ultimate mk3, when they shifted to 3d, but this games does look interesting.

I can easily say I've always had thing against games that have links primarily as combos and last year is when I really finally warmed up to SSFIV. So I guess I really just need to sit down and learn the combos in MK9 like I did in Super.
Ermaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac, I think I love yoooooooooooou.
Okay, I seriously love the Challenge Tower in this game. It's not just shit like "fight this dude with this character," they actually mix the events up. There's shit like shooting galleries, fighting groups of enemies, the Test Your Might/Sight/Strike/Luck modes, specialized tag modes, and even stuff where specific functions of a character are removed or altered entirely! A lot of the missions are fun, but others are just really difficult, such as pretty much every Cyrax mission in the tower.

I seriously love this game so much. I'm still astonished that they managed to make such a great MK game after so many awful ones. AlthougH I gotta say, the ending of the Story mode makes me wonder what the next game will be like, if there is one.

I never thought I'd give a shit about MK lore either, haha.
Must plllaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
I regret renting this game, I can definitely seeing myself buying this when I have more disposable income ):

i haven't really found out any big combos with characters I use frequently, but I have found out how to be annoying as shit with Smoke, and that is way more satisfying

Also, fuck my inability to buy this game. :C
Woah Nelly.
KITE:
Mk1- Raiden and Kang
Mk2- Reptile and Sub-Zero
Mk3- cyrax and Subzero
Umk3- Reptile and scorpion
mkda- reptile and subzero
mka- Kenshi and Custom
MK9- cryax and JAX? woaaahht?
i never really thought id play jax so much in this game.
Tho i really wanna play Retro Reptile. Retro Scorpion is cool but id trade it for reptile.
Anyway Story mode bothers me so much...so so much.
What's wrong with story mode?
I'm wondering the same thing. It has its share of corny moments, but in all reality what fighting game doesn't?

Also, MK9 was rated a 9.1/10 on The Fighters Generation. I THINK THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.
The netcode is so ass that my house smells like diarrhea, it's that bad.
I only played once and it didn't seem awful.

However, since PSN is down, I can't actually try again. :V

The only problem was slight input lag, which is to be expected for a fighting game that uses polygons in contrary to pixel art.
