oh wait it still is nevermind

Oh yeah... I already played on my original 64 (very old times)... and on emulator
no people literally compare those all the time. its stupid. irl and on comments on things and shit.
At least people are comparing it to something NOT from the NES. I got so sick of every review for an action RPG being, "it's a Zelda clone." Really, just a Zelda clone? Seiken Densetsu was just a Zelda clone? Funny, I don't remember casting fireballs or manually-steered spears of ice, or riding a Chocobo (or dragon) being in Zelda. Zelda didn't ride shit until N64, so like hell the Seiken Densetsu series is a Zelda clone.

And if someone made a platformer where you just jumped and colelcted stuff, it was a Mario clone. If you had a weapon and slayed monsters and got powerups, it was a Castlevania clone or a Metroid clone. Let's ignore the innovations that newer games might bring to their genres!

So next time someone compares a game to God Of War or makes any other sort of comparison like that, just point out to them Kirby and Castlevania were Mario clones, Mega Man was a Castlevania clone, Castlevania 2 was a Metroid clone, Aero Fighters was a Space Invaders clone .... the list goes on. If they can't criticize a game without comparing it to another game, their criticisms are baseless.
who cares if it weren't for pitfall we wouldn't have much platformer games.

i'd hardly call castlevania and kirby mario clones just cause "you jump on shit".

maybe i'd make more sense if you said Galaga/Galaxian are Space Invaders clones, but even then sharing gameplay features doesnt turn things into a clone of.

GOW is just the curren tip of the iceberg. can't blame people for using it as a reference.
That and I'd like to add in castlevania and kirby you can't even jump on enemies at all, you have to attack them another way.

same can be said for metroid and castlevania 2
i havent seen people comparing current games with nes games at all.

in fact most people tends to forget there was a NES actually.

If it wasn't for Super Mario Bros we wouldn't have Halo.

or any other game for that matter.

if it wasn't for shut the fuck up you look like an idiot even if you're trying to be funny (because it's not funny (at all))
i think he was trying to refer to the fact that the NES reborn the gaming industry, since the oversaturation of the market +/- two years before Nintendo released the NES made everyone think that videogames were a market that wouldn't come back.

still, it's pretty blunt and stupid to say that no future videogames would be made if it wasn't for super mario bros. The videogame market would eventually grow back again even if nintendo didn't exist, by either atari, sega or some other company :I
Well through shitty sarcasm, yeah that was my point.

I am aware that SMB alone wasn't really the rebirth of the whole market don't get me wrong, But comparisons can still be made when it comes to NES, that console is still a pretty huge inspiration amongst developers. So I am kind of finding it hard to believe it could be forgotten just like that.

It's kind of hard to say people forget that NES never existed, maybe for newer gamers but veterans and developers alike know damn well it existed. I mean, would have god of war even been made if there wasn't for one of the games on that console alone? think about it.

EDIT: I also want to add that there's a lot to owe to nintendo, even if it wasn't for them we could still strive off of DOS/PC games, but I doubt the market would be as in great of shape if it wasn't for them.
anything goes anyway.
