No, red and green came out at the same time and had the same sprites. The second releases of them and when they later released Blue it had the sprites we got, but red and green originally both had them.

Just to clear this up since it's already been explained a couple of times:

Pokemon Red and Green V1.0 (First release, ONLY IN JAPAN)
-This is the only version with the Lavender Tone, 731, and (supposedly) the white hand, the ghost animation, and BuryMan.
-Has the terrible pokemon sprites and more bugs and glitches than just the missingno glitch. These are the rarest of the games and harder to find since they were quietly recalled and patched by nintendo.

Pokemon Red and Green V1.1 (Second release, ONLY IN JAPAN)
-Quietly released in Japan after the recall of version 1.0; supposedly made to cover up the original's subliminal messages.
-Lavender Tone removed; replaced with different (yet still almost identical) BGM and several minor bugfixes included. Still has the terrible pokemon sprites and more bugs and glitches than just the missingno glitch.
-731, the white hand, the ghost animation, and BuryMan (if they even existed) removed.
-Not as rare as V1.0, but still sort of hard to acquire. Most japanese people played this one.

Pokemon Red and Green V1.2 (Third release. Red version released worldwide. Green version rebadged as Blue version for its international release, but stayed as Green version in Japan.)
-Has the "fixed" spritework.
-Many of the bugs from the original removed.
-This version of Red and Green is the version that was released outside of japan. Red version remained the same, but Green version was rebadged as Blue version outside of japan.
-If I recall correctly, there is actually a Blue version in Japan, but it's just the same rebadge that the rest of the world got, meaning there's really no reason for it to exist (in japan, at least) since it's literally just a clone of green version with blastoise on the title screen and box art.

Pokemon Yellow, aka Pokemon Red and Green V1.3 (Fourth release; released worldwide.)
-Enhanced graphics from V1.2, Pikachu system, etc included.
-Missingno and some other glitches, etc removed.
-I shouldn't need to explain this one.

Well, on one hand, we have someone with a ROM version, and on the other, someone with a legitimate hard copy. The one with the ROM finds the creepy shit, and the one with the hard copy finds nothing.

That means that if Butch has version 1.0, and not the patched release, this whole theory is shot.

guys, maybe pokemon green, the version with the ugly sprites, had more than one version. I think that's what the article from the first post was implying?

As I said before, it could potentially only be in Green version. It sounds unlikely, but since there /are/ differences between the two versions (though it's mostly just available pokemon but whatever) it could be possible.

Either this, or we go back to the original theory that suigin is trolling us.

Red and green versions, only ever existed and released inside of japan (these are the versions that apparently contain the wierd tones and all this wierd shit)

a few months after the release of version 1.0 they were recalled and patched, the only changes made were the removal of all this wierd shit and a few bug fixes.

version 1.1 red and green, Also only released inside of japan, these were the patched ones that only had bugs removed and the wierd shit taken out
(the majority of japanese people have version 1.1 because 1.0 only existed for such a short time, Butch/arthur probably has version 1.1, it's highly unlikely he got a copy of 1.0 as they are very very rare)

version 1.2 was the the one with the new sprites, more bug fixes and it was released worldwide as red and blue

version 1.3 released worldwide as pokemon yellow, also more bug fixes and new sprites.


THE ONE WITH ALL THE SCARY SHIT IS V1.0
THE CHANCES OF ANY OF US GETTING HOLD OF A PHYSICAL COPY OF THAT ARE VERY VERY SLIM.
VERSION 1.2 IS RARE TOO, BUT DOESNT CONTAIN THE WIERD SHIT.

i imagine the number of originals still in-tact and working in existence is in the hundreds.

i played the lavender town theme backwards and my garage door opened but never shut (im upstairs and i heard it, didnt actually see it)

everyone was home and no one had left (my window in my room is just enough to see all the cars in the driveway but the garage itself potrudes fromt he house and i cant actually see the door)

the door did not open until a few seconds after the song finished completely. im under my covers now
