Hey I just want you to know I would love to help rip models from pokémon stadium 1 + 2, but I wouldn't know how, if you could inform me on how to do this I would love to help get models up!

Sincerely, poe
it's nice that you want to help. i'm not too sure myself but, i'm sure there is someone around that knows how to do it.
May take a couple of days to get a reply from someone who knows though Smile
Let's just hope Shadowth117 finds this.

No problem. Just make sure to start your thread in the Model Discussion forum next time rather than Model Submission. This section of the board is for submitting stuff you've already ripped while the Model Discussion board is for answering questions like this. I'll move it for you, but please post things in the right place next time. Wink

On to the subject at hand, if you want to rip from an N64 game you can go about it 2 ways except for a few special cases. The better way to do this would be to use 3D Ripper DX 1.8.1: http://www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm
and to rip from the Direct X 6 plugin in Project 64. Yes I know there's other Direct X plugins for the emulator, but they never worked with 3D ripper DX. Just remember to convert the .DDS textures to .PNG before submission.

You can also rip from N64 games using an emulator called Nemu64, but this method is more troublesome because not only does it not rip the textures with the model, but it didn't even get the texture coordinates right whenever I tried it.
Sorry I realized that after posting >_<
Well thank you for your reply, I will try this method later tonight, I have the dentist later >_<
The reason I am interested is because I'm part of the Indie Game Community(Not communities like C++ and commercial things but Game Maker and RPG Maker) And I would like to have some models for people to make 3D pokémon games with because it seems people are always asking.

Bye

More:
This is way harder then it seems! I got a .OBJ but when I got it into anim8or, obviously it was the whole scene, but it treated it as one object so I couldn't get out lil Marowak Sad

Yeah, I really can't say Anim8or is even close to ideal for this. While its free not only is it not terribly powerful, but it hasn't been updated for years and there are much better programs out there. You don't need to use my suggestion or anything by any means, but I'd really recommend finding something better.

There's quite a few programs out there, but the best free one I know of is Blender: http://www.blender.org/

You obviously don't have to use that particular program like I said before, but you have to pay for most other powerful 3d programs. Because Anim8or is to say Maya what MS Paint is to Photoshop. It hardly compares.
Um, whats a recommended 3d modeling program?

Thanks.
Blender is god! Oh and try ripping from a game thats not n64, cause they are a PAIN to rip from.
Blender is NOT God. Just say its the best.
