A lot of games these days have some dark greyish feel to them, not saying its a bad thing, but "too" many games have them, mostly western games. They need more games with colorful rich environments and characters that "pop out" instead of some dull somewhat-realistic graphics that look boring.

every western game is a shooter, a shooter that tries to be innovative, or a generic tolkien fantasy with dragons and dwarves

thats why i dont really like western developers

Professional Western devs should take a hint or two from Western indie game developers.

Customisation that affects aesthetics. Being able to design your avatar the way you want, and in as much detail as possible.

there is this arcade game called Ghost Squad thats literally a rail shooter much like time crisis and house of the dead and such, but you get to choose how to "dress" your character and what weapon you want to use.

and literally is the best thing i've played since time crisis 2 in terms of rail shooters(and arcade games in general). not only because you can go from being a WW2 soldier with a mp5 to a ranger with a shotgun to a guy wearing a tong-?- using a m60 to your bread and butter special ops soldier with a handgun, but because each weapon has its own gameplay and difficulty and you decide in wich order and level of difficulty you play each stage(and each level of difficulty presents more or less 'minigames' like sniping people from a hill or doing some hand to hand combat)

dont believe i am a rail shooter sir(even when i am) but literally having so many options and choices that aren't just cosmetic or optional(and avaliable at the very beggining of the game) makes the game so replayable that i am still having fun while being a guy wearing a panda costume killing guerrilla soldiers with a heavy machinegun. and of course being a guy wearing a panda cosume in the middle of the jungle killing guerrillas is as stupid as it sounds.

quoting this
Less Brown Lighting and glare.
More comedy.
Less FPS.
Moar co-op and rival modes.
Longer adventures.
More cinimatic scenes to balance with gameplay.
Less cake walk.
Original storylines and Music.
Moar action.
Moar original physics.
Original characters, rather than the basic american soldier in a beard and generic voice.
Actually, you know what I want?

Cheat codes and passwords.
Why did they die? They were cool.
Link needs a beard, I want to see him have a beard.

stop saying moar, it makes you look retarded, hth

are you serious, more cinematic cutscenes to balance with gameplay
what are you, retarded
you don't play video games to watch a movie, you play video games to
play a video game

and most contemporary games are loaded with cutscenes anyway
Also, to be honest, I don't mind a dull color scheme, as long as it fits with the atmosphere of the game. Part of the reason it worked so wonderfully for Shadow of the Colossus is that players actually had to take the time to appreciate the atmosphere. The sense of loneliness blended with the varied (albeit beautiful) landscapes in the game really made the player pay attention to the fantastic barren wasteland they were riding through, and really gave a sense of emptiness. Games like Gears of War make poor use of the colors, as you focus so much on the shooting that you can actually take the time to pay attention to all of your surroundings.

In short, I don't mind a somewhat dull color scheme, as long as it makes some god damn sense to put in the game.

When devs could still bother to implement secrets most people would never find. Without reading those old gaming magazines, at least.
