Topic for me to post anything I'm working on that doesn't really deserve/need its own topic.

Some sprites I made on the fly, that eventually turned into a vertical SHMUP idea. I tried to limit myself a bit on these, working with only 8 colors for the two ships (7 plus transparency), five colors for the bullets (4 plus transparency), two frames per animation on the ships, and four frames for the bullets. Though, the second "ship" isn't really a ship so much as it is a humongous purple and red flying insect that shoots glowing orange ovals.
Er.

The organization on this is as follows:
Ship
Ship turning left
Ship turning right
Lives icon - Regular bullets
Upgraded/bigger bullets (not sure where I'm going with these)

Under the two ships is a custom font I made, 8x8 in size, like fonts of other classic arcade SHMUPs (and other arcade games in general).

Looking for some critique on this, mainly on how the ships look on the black background, if the shading looks off, how the bullets look overall, and how well the font flows without a space character (mostly worried about the question mark, it reaches out quite a bit).

Lastly, I'm planning on making two more ships and going the Parodius route with character selection, just in a vertical SHMUP.

Started work on the third ship. First frame of moving straight is done, along with the lives icon, bullets, and bigger bullets. I'm not sure how to animate it moving, though. It already takes up the entire 15x21 canvas, so jet flames or similar effects are out of the question.

Also, I know it looks kinda like a heart. Unintentional, but I like it.
Not bad! Look like they'd work well in a mini-shmup!
Thanks, Dex!

Made a quick mock-up character select screen, just to see how they'd fit. The screen size is the SNES' screen size.

I pretty much made up all of the text there (minus the name Wing Zeta) on the spot. If anybody really cares, I might explain what the "rapid" and "charge" stats mean.

Also, I can't think of a decent name for the first ship. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I dare you to guess what this is.

This is my original Robot Master design, Clone Man.
His special weapon is the Clone Blast; an almost hologram-like motionless clone shot from his buster. It can also be charged up to shoot a clone in both directions. He travels around the room by jumping, either in one large leap, or multiple smaller hops.

It's in the style of the NES Mega Man games, of course. Criticism and help would be nice, especially with the arms. I'm shit with arms. Sad
Liking the look f the ships and the ther stuff. Clone Man is´looking good, too. Keep up the good work.

P.S. I seriously won't dare to guess.

Made some edits to Glasses Guy. He now has an idle animation, and I'm working on a front-ish pose to add onto the idle animation. Making the glasses look good and consistent on the front face is kinda hard, so I made two. The first looks better, but the second is more consistent with the angle you're viewing it at compared to the angle you're viewing the glasses on the normal sprites.
Comments and constructive criticism would be nice.
I think the first front face looks better, but that's just my opinion.
