Now I know many of you will realize this is just a revamp, but I plan on fixing up much more. Including finishing off the body.

The Original

So it is apparent this is a WIP

Currently i prefer the original. The contrast really helps it.

It's better. I think you could go for a compromise with some slightly larger highlights.
And some of the drop shadows of the spikes on the legs and body don't look quite right.

Something about the upper half of the beast looks rigid.
It must be the joints.

It's head doesn't seem to connect to it's body, it's right arm shoots out of it's torso at an odd angle. Not too sure about that though as I don't have crustacean arms to base that on. The way it's left arm is positioned also seems a bit unnatural but I can't spot why. Ah, and it's backs too straight. It's thighs should be thicker, and it's legs thinner. The feet are a bit wrong too, you should look at the back of the ankles on a reference. They stick out a bit. These are all very minor things, and I could just be wrong.

I'd give it a 4/5. But only because I'm envious of your ability. =p
Technique's great, but instead of revamping it you should have redone it.
