Wii ripping problem.
#1
I've been trying to extract the files from New Super Mario Bros Wii through Dolphin, and I ran into a problem:

When I right-click the game and click on "Properties", it pops this error up a few times:

After that, I look for the files in "Filesystem", but this is what I found:

Am I doing something wrong? Or is it a bad ROM?
Any help is appreciated.

(BTW, this is my first time I've ever tried to rip assets from the Wii, and I am using Garamonde's Wii ripping tutorial.)

EDIT: I almost forgot to mention, I'm specifically trying to rip Sprites, Textures, and Sounds. I don't know if I'll do Models, but I'll give it a try.

BTW, I forgot to mention:

When I extract the files, this is the only file that gets exported:

Hi! In case of bad ISO, can you try run the game to test if it is playable?

What file type is your ISO anyway? Is it *.wbfs? Seems like you have a raw, encrypted ISO.

Thanks for the reply!

Anyways, since you said that it could be an encrypted .iso, I think you're right, because the ROM file I have isn't a .wbfs file, it's an .iso file:

If it is encrypted, how do I decrypt it?

Now that's a lot clearer! You are not using plain ISO, but NKit ISO. You'll need this instead:

https://gbatemp.net/download/nkit.36157/

Run "NKitExtractionApp.exe" and select your ISO to extract the game files. Full user guide here:

Good luck!

It worked! Thanks! Smile

Do you know any tool that can open an .arc file? I tried to look for one, but I couldn't find one that works. XP

Great to hear!

For *.arc files, there was already a thread for it, 10 years ago:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-get-b...ii.223746/

Give that thread a read, you'll have some good idea what tools you'll need to find.

Some notes:

Quote:.arc files are only level designs.

Quote:Use Reggie and the background editing window to see which file is which

To make them a png... you use U8Mii to extract the archive, and either TPLMii or SZS Modifier to extract the image... either or, its been a few months since I've played with them last.

Quote: This is arc file, you can open it in SZS Modifier but you can't modify.

Good luck!

I have figured out how to rip Sprites, Textures, and Models from the Wii now! Big Grin

Unfortunately, I still can't rip sounds at the moment.

I can't figure out how to extract sounds from a .brsar file. I've tried using Brawlbox, VGMToolBox, and a tool called "brsar_unpack", and I haven't had any luck with either one of them. (Brawlbox can open a .brsar file, but it can't export the sounds for some reason.)

Is there a tool that can extract sounds from a .brsar file?

Hi! When you said the tools didn't work, how it didn't work? Is there any error messages? Does it looks something like this?

https://smashboards.com/threads/brsar-ex...lp.412771/

From the file format wikia, it suggest BRSAR Extractor. You can try that:

You can also try HCS Forum, a forum specialized in ripping VG Music and anything sound related. They suggested VGMTrans

https://ci.appveyor.com/project/magcius/.../artifacts
https://github.com/magcius/vgmtrans/releases/

There are also many hacking projects to mod Mario Bros and Mario Kart games, try look around "Tools and Guides" section for any tools they used.
