it was good but kind of a let down
I put together a little playlist of all my first victories over the bosses in my blind playthrough
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WRaYvix...XP&index=1

some of the story lines involving aldrich and lothric are cool when you dig a little bit into them
but it felt like a pretty shallow plot compared to like dark souls 2, which had actual themes besides just "lore"

also someone mentioned the final boss being a 10/10 but i thought it was so random and somehow generic despite this
it was only a boss for the sake of having an end boss and it did okay at that, but it kind of goes agains souls typical story telling

I'm having a lot of fun with the online on playstation, I really like the more realistic weapon designs and move sets (I'm using the regular halberd and falchion a lot), but some of the bigger ones are no fun to fight against and look completely stupid
it would be nice to have an invasion that wasn't a gank though

the biggest problem I have with the game is how derivative it is of dark souls 1 though
references aren't just sprinkled through the game as I heard mentioned, they are so heavily present in the available armor sets and stuff that it feels like it almost robs this entry of a lot of the identity it could have
characters like the fire keeper and seigward feel like so much less when they are just replicas of characters that have already been explored (andre is litterally at firelink shrine)
it's actually really distracting and disappointing because instead of giving us visuals for more of the abstracts from dark souls 1 that could of been explored more, we get the same old armor sets with lore only added to some of the already most established older characters

wait no I have a bigger problem with the game, and hopefully some of patches have fixed this, but the npc quest lines are so easy to break and they are such a significant part of giving the game any identity that it's a real shame
it my playthrough I never met one of the most important characters with some of the items i wanted the most, and a ton of my npcs died mysteriously or were completely unresponsive even after attacking them
what a shame

as for a possitive, even though they got rid of ds1's really awesome approach to an interconnected world, the philosophy of going everywhere you could see ended up being very true and it was nice

mmmm I think I have more thoughts about the game but that's it for now
