Game Vs. Game! This week: SA1 Vs. SA2
That could be his gimmick... he's a super-heavy character who can't jump, but as a consequence, he suffers very little knockback until he's reached several hundred percent. His up-special could be a grappling hook which he can use to climb onto higher platforms or to pull airborn enemies to his level. When he drops from one platform, he falls so quickly that it actually damages and buries enemies he lands upon.

Why does he need a jump? A good player doesn't get knocked off stage anyways.

He'd be like a turtle-combat style of Little Mac.

Nightmare in Dreamland has no chance when its stacked up against 4 player simultaneous coop that lets you literally be ANYWHERE in an extremely massive nonlinear world at ANY time you want.

Kirby and the Amazing Mirror is what Majora's Mask is to Ocarina of Time. Sure, it might feel a little on the shortish side and some changes might not make a lot of sense, but it's pretty much a superior sequel that offers more depth and challenges than the original had to offer.

On top of that, who can say "no" to using the powerful endgame ability outside of the boss fight? It's something that I don't think hasn't been done before in a Kirby game prior to that.

it's ok to suck, sucking is not bad, just try and aim to always do your best!

Stupid question is stupid. I pick the only correct choice.

I pick Amazing Mirror for Smash Kirby alone.

I'd say it was a straight up upgrade from NiDL. Is there anything NiDL had that Mirror didn't? Aside from the Meta-Knight mode, I suppose.
(but getting those CPU Kirby to cooperate was such a pain sometimes)

Nightmare in Dreamland was sort of a shitty remake anyway. At least Amazing Mirror did something new, y'know.

I REALLY hate Amazing Mirror.
Nonlinearity is cool but making your game an arbitrary maze with retarded conditions for being able to advance with no real direction on how to advance is stupid.

...that being said, I did re-buy it to give it another try but ugh

I loved amazing mirror but I kind of have to agree with this sentiment.

Nightmare in Dream Land is an absolute piece of garbage that puts the fantastic original NES title to shame. It's only redeeming quality is its introduction of Meta Knightmare mode, which was improved upon in Super Star Ultra, but even that isn't enough to make up for the fact that it did a shitty and, more importantly, lazy job of representing all the things that made the original awesome in the first place.

Amazing Mirror was kind of an oddity for the Kirby series, it was an oddly long, gigantic game which was not really designed with beginner players in mind like most Kirby games are, and in some places it posed some difficulty for even veteran players (the final boss, for example, is probably one of the most difficult in the entire Kirby franchise). That said though, it was designed very well and obviously had a lot of effort put into it, plus its really enjoyable to play, provided you have a lot of time to dedicate to a Kirby game.

And you know what, even if I ignore Nightmare in Dream Land on its merits as a remake and just view it as a stand-alone title, Amazing Mirror still outclasses it in Every. Single. Way. There is just no contest here.

Also a side note for everyone who has posted so far:

*ahem*

"DREAM LAND" IS TWO WORDS! NOT ONE! IT HAS BEEN THE CASE FOR EVERY SINGLE KIRBY GAME EVER MADE!! WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR PEOPLE TO STOP MAKING THIS MISTAKE?! WHAT DOES IT TAAAAAAAAAAAAKE?! *sob*

I totally disagree. The visuals and music among other things were enhanced greatly, plus it added extra features. It was also one of my very first games I ever owned, but still I don't see how it's "bad" by any means.

As for Amazing Mirror, I somewhat share Viper's mentality in that the game was unnecessarily confusing and you were never very well guided. If I remember, you also pretty much either needed another player to get some things because obviously the computer didn't know how to do what you needed it to do, or be really good yourself. However I did enjoy the game a lot regardless and the extras and stuff were fun. I also liked the exploration, boss designs, music, and multiplayer value.

Overall, I think I'd have to go with Nightmare in Dream Land though.

As a side note, I can't say I really understand why a remake is being pitted against a completely new game though. I know they're both for GBA but I feel that makes things rather blatantly disadvantageous for the one side if you aren't like, a totally diehard fan of the original game to the point you'd love anything done with it, or something.

EDIT: *sees post above* *steps out of thread whistling*

I also disagree.  I can see where the contention lies, what with the more twisted-looking aesthetics and changed minigames, but to call it a complete piece of garbage because of that?  That seems a bit too harsh, because barring all of that, it's still the same NES game but with a new coat of paint.  Plus, the multiplayer was pretty rad.  But that's all just me.

Amazing Mirror was also a fun game.  Felt like they took Super Star's Great Cave Offensive and extended it to a full-length game.  It wasn't without it's fair share of flaws, though; the stages got much too confusing and maze-like at certain points, loads of BS "trial and error" level design, and getting the other three CPU-controlled Kirbys to co-operate with you got pretty tiresome (such as getting them all to inhale a giant block on multiple occasions).  Plus, Dedede was significantly absent, which was pretty disappointing.  The selection of copy abilities and multiplayer were hella tight, though.

Hard to me to decide which game wins out in the end though. We're comparing a mere remake of a 1993 game to an actual original title here.

I once read an article about the differences between Adventure and KNiD and from what I recall, outside of the different minigames and Butter Building's lack of rotation there's basically no differences and definitely nothing to justify it being considered a "shitty remake".

If anything I'd say KSSU is the worse remake but that's just me...
