Well I thought that it would be better to be occupied with something enjoyable that the shit Sega's throwing at us.

Uhh... what happened here? Did SEGA forget to test the Android version before pushing it out?

The iOS version of Sonic Runners is completely fine and doesn't have all these issues.

I commend SEGA for admitting their shit.

It's pretty much the same statement they make before every Sonic game. "Sonic Unleashed has classic two-dimensional gameplay everbody will love!" "Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 will be the Adventure successor the world's been waiting for!" "Sonic Colors will have even more two-dimensional gameplay that everybody will love and take everything in a new and fun direction!" "Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will go back to those good ol' series routes!" "Sonic Generations will successfully emulate old-school gameplay to satisfy fans of all ages!"

I hope to see them step things up. If not, they'll just be trampled all over by the indie developer market, just like everything else Sick.

Well Sonic just needs to be put to rest, just like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. They should try their other franchises.

By "Put to rest like ... Spyro" you mean given the headline in a totally unrelated franchise that will ignore all but two of his supporting characters and forgot all of them exist by the sequel?

No I mean put to rest as in, put them away for a few years, or forever, before they make things even worse with the already salty and hard to please fanbase, lol.

YES.

(I would also add Shenmue to this list but we're already getting Shenmue 3!)

Sega has so many beautiful franchises they don't touch anymore. Hell even a new Virtua Fighter would be welcome.

It's going to be live action, with the characters being made in CGI by Marza Animation Planet. Yeah, it does sound like a bad idea.
Firstly, most live action adaptations criminally focus more on the humans rather than the characters we came to see (IE, Transformers)
Second, how the hell are they going to make it work? Even with Sega supervising it, I just can't see him being made realistic.
The fan-film had the same problems mentioned above, and looked like a SyFy Mockbuster due to how low-budget it was.
But it HAS to be Roger Craig Smith doing the voice. Replacing him with a celebrity would indeed receive backlash.

This is why the Garfield movie didn't work: only he was CGI with a face that resembled a plush toy, Everyone else were normal animals.
And the plot was pretty much recycled from the TV special Here Comes Garfield. At least he had more screentime than Jon.
In my opinion, the writing would've been better if they hired Mark Evanier due to his work on Garfield & Friends.

basically a copy-and-paste of this movie
[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT2OnsvAQzJBvxCGhz7-nb...nP2jzOyZVd]

which is basically a copy-and-paste of Alvin and the Chipmunks and Mr. Popper's Penguins. Hold on - I'll write up a synopsis right now!

Synopsis Wrote:Evil genius Dr. Eggman (Hank Azaria, voiced by Mike Pollock) has plagued the happy, peaceful creatures of Mobius for a very long time. Finally, he succeeds in chasing the little furry people out of Knothole and through a multi-dimensional rift -- which transports them to Manhattan and into the life of ad executive Christopher Thorndyke (Neil Patrick Harris). Only three chili-dogs high and lost in the Big Apple, Sonic (Roger Craig Smith) and his friends Tails (Kate Higgins) Knuckles (Christopher "Ludacris" Bridges) and Amy Rose (Katy Perry) must find a way back to their world before Eggman tracks them down.

oh, what - you're telling me I copied and pasted the synopsis of the Smurfs movie and replaced the settings and characters as appropriate?

Well yeah, what are you expecting from Sony Pictures

Actually not gonna lie I'm looking forward to the Ratchet and Clank film along with Sly Cooper, but they stay decidedly in CGI animation. I kinda wonder how both will end up.
Admittedly though I'm more excited about their tie-in games than the films themselves...actually, where the hell is the new info on the Sly Cooper film? lol

I grew up with Sonic, pretty much. And I didn't even grow up during much of the hype either...I just became attached to the games while not many other people were (I lived in...weird areas, I guess?? Also I only knew like two other girls throughout my childhood who actually enjoyed video games). First game I caught a glimpse of was Adventure for the DC while in a Comp USA. Eventually I became a big fan from watching the cartoons on Disney and got myself a copy of 3&K for the PC. Then I went from there to other classics on the PC like 2, CD, Spinball, and even 3D Blast. I believe I also played R for a while, but it ended up not working so well on my PC at the time.
From then (which was around 2002-ish) to about 2009, I was completely indulged in Sonic. I liked playing the games, writing fanfics, drawing fanart, messing around with sprites, making fan games...Jeez, it's best to assume that my childhood just zoomed by thanks to my fascination with the blue blur.
I'd probably say my fascination with Sonic stopped at Unleashed. Unleashed was a fun game, there weren't many things that disappointed me about it other than a few aspects of the night stages. But after that I started running out of juice to keep up with Sonic...I guess with high school and personal life in general I became too busy to sit around playing games all day. Even though my fascination ran its course, I still revisit the blue blur every now and then. I had enough free time to try out Colors and Generations - pretty impressive efforts on Sonic Team's part. However, the most disappointing experience with Sonic I've ever had was probably with Lost World. I just wasn't feeling..."Sonic" from it. But I do appreciate that they were trying something new, which is something Super Mario has yet to do.
I do agree that Sonic might be getting too old to keep up with the time of video games being slow-paced and having complex backstories and cinematics. It would probably be best to just store Sonic away for bit and try to find something different to work with. SEGA still has a variety of properties to choose from which they can bring back - Monster World, After Burner, Ecco the Dolphin, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe...Quite a few old properties that would probably do well in this age of gaming if they were continued/rebranded/whatever.
I am obviously aware of Sonic 06 and Rise of Lyric. Just wanna make that clear. I didn't have access to a new generation console when 06 came out, but I think I did play a demo at the BX at one point. And I don't have a Wii-U. I mean, I most certainly won't go out of my way to play games that are condemned by a good portion of the world.
And about the movie, as little hope that I personally have for it to be "accurate" to the games, I probably won't mind seeing it just to see it. I don't mind that it'll be live-action, AS LONG as a blue hedgehog-creature is the main protagonist, and not some prepubescent child.
Sorry for all the rambling, but I just wanted to give my general spiel on the blue thing that goes fast.

That's what everyone's fear is with this movie. Sonic getting less screentime for some human loser nobody will want or like.
As I stated above, this has happened to a lot of live-action adaptations. It's good that the next Smurfs movie is a fully animated reboot.
Even the poor Ninja Turtles were victims of this due to Megan "I'm Acting" Fox getting more attention than them.

I wish they would reveal the date for the big announcement for the next game. It better not be a sequel to Generations even if it is the 25th anniversary this year. That game feels better off as a one-time only thing instead of a tradition for every fifth milestone.
Maybe even ports of the Taxman/Stealth updates for Sonic 1 and 2 so they're no longer only on mobile phones.
