Exporting from Blender?
#1
This indirectly relates to game development- basically, I received a request to model characters and landscapes for a video game. I was about to agree (wouldn't hurt to expand my portfolio a bit Tongue) when I read the message again. He had stated in fine print that he uses SketchUp (ew) so I should make sure to export in a format that SU supports. This would be fine, except I have the character models rigged- and I can't find a way to get rigs (and vertex colors, while we're at it) from Blender to SketchUp.

TL;DR: I need a format that Blender can export from- and SketchUp supports- that is able to handle rigs and vertex colors. Anyone?

iirc sketchup does not natively support any form of rigging, as it is mostly a design/architecture program. you would have to either use third-party plugins or some really hacky methods to get rigging to function.

the format .DAE is supported by sketchup, so that might work.

Thanks for the info on rigs, I hadn't known. As for DAE, Blender doesn't export correctly into the format (or SU doesn't import correctly, idk). :/
