De-Rusting my Spritings- NES SMB Chell

i really dislike that washed out palette used for the sprites in general. unless you're planning to do everything with that color scheme in mind(i doubt so, seeing how robotnik just pops uot way too much compared to the rest of the characters)

i'd rather use a more saturated palette for sonic.

I'd consider all palettes temporary, actually- they're mostly copied from the sprite archive I have at my laptop. Mecha Knuckles uses Chaotix' Knuckles' pink, Blaze uses the colours from Cylent Nite's Blaze, Sonic uses Sonic CD's palette with a custom skin palette, etc.

I actually really like these!

The only problems I see so far are that sonic's shoes seem way too long and... angular.

I made a quick edit (the left one)

That, and Knuckles' shoes seem hugely disproportionate to the rest of his body.
Sonic's shoes are 7 pixels tall at their highest point while Knuckles' are 9 pixels tall. Since Knuckles appears to be shorter than sonic, this makes his feet appear to be huge and clunky while his legs are stubby.
You should make his shoes the same size or smaller than Sonic's.

Knuckles is filled with banding and the shading on his dreadlocks seem a little messy and nonsensical to me. The white of his eye forms a square because of his pupil, which I think is a little distracting. The spikes/thumb on his closer hand aren't really shaped right either.

I'm not a fan of the shines on Eggman. Maybe try making one of them smaller or something?

Probably because it's the cleanest. The others have a bit of noise and banding (especially apparent on Knuckles like StarSock said)
I would change up the colors. It doesn't seem consistent in contrast. For example: comparing Tails's body to his shoes. But okay, people already said that too.

Have Medabots. I'm having issues with doing Ikki's arm and hair. Trying to follow the show's rules of "humans have no shading, but robots do". Still need to make the body for all those KBT models there.

I'll try to have a look at the sonics again tonight, though.

Quickly-made Chell in SMB style. The swimming and climbing mini-Chell animations are pretty much eye-lifted from Mario's though because I was sleepy and lazy. I may have a second look at them, but tbh this SMB style is a bit awful and not very inviting for one to spend a lot of time working in it? Dunno.

this is amusing, but yeah, there's little to in a style such as this.

you're also using more colors than you should, and you appear to have an extra shade of orange.

Do I? Must've gotten there by accident, I'll have a look over the palette. Also, I'm using Peach's palette; Since the final idea is to use this in Mari0, the SMB/Portal crossover game, that has no palette restrictions, I think I'm willing to let it pass. Just because I really don't see how to make Chell work with Mario's colours.

I'll work on my TFR sprites tomorrow, it's a bit more interesting than SMB sprites Tongue
