[IDEA] Pokemon-like game
#1
Hey guys. It's a' me, I'm too cool for an introduction.

Anyway, I've been planning to make a game when I grow up from little boy pants after I maybe do a university course on Computer games design.

The game?

The game is basically, you train, raise, breed, work with etc. creatures and perform missions with some creatures. I was planning to make it a kind of lifestyle/RPG game, where you live with and help your monsters to grow, earn a living, fight with others and whatever.

Here is a bit more about creatures:

Your creatures will have up to two of the following types: Mscle, Psycho, Bug, Mammal, Bird, Undead, Fire, Water, Ice, Leaf, Rock, Ground, Air, Light, Sound and None (None needs a new name), and each type has strengths and weaknesses over other types. Each monster learns moves of different types (eg, shooting fireballs, throwing rocks, sucking blood etc), and certain moves or abilities can help you in your job, or fighting others (criminals, fight junkies etc.)
Unlike many fighting games, the fights are in 3D. Not 2D, or anything, its a full-on, 3D game.
Each creatures gradually grows, like a lion cub to a lion, or kitten to cat.
The creatures can assume Stances, to increase certain attributes
Attributes are: Health, Strength, Power, defence, Blocking Defence, Speed and Jump Height

And here is about the lifestyle part:
You start off in a crappy apartment. Then you capture a monster, and depending on what it is depends on your first job (eg; capturing a fire-type creature gets you a job as a welder, water types may get a you a job as a sailor, also, specific creatures may land you a specific job, like one I've already made called Crawleach, a bug that sucks impurities out of blood, may get you a job in a hospital. However, at the start you are only an apprentice ,so you don't get full pay). I'm not sure yet if you have to do anything in your job, or if you just see your avatar driving or catching the bus to work
Later, you can get more money you can get better jobs, better housing, etc. Remember you need to supply yourself and your creatures with food and stuff, so a good pay is vital

So, I need some ideas for this game.
A general term for the creatures, a way of capturing the creatures, some more creatures, and anything else helpful. Any ideas are welcome, stupid or not, and whether or not I laugh at your stupidity is irrelevant.

Remember, This game mey be produced in real life, and if your ideas are accepted you will be credited (unfortunately, only by your real name and not username). Also, I'm trying to not be too much of a rip-off of other games, so it looks more like a real game and not a fan-game.

EDIT: altered this post

Although the idea is short at the moment,
there isn't anything new here, nor interesting enough.

Quote:Well, its a pokemon-like game with a few differences

This just throws it off.

You shouldn't try to be/mention anything like Pokemon, or it usually seems like a ripoff.

Pokemon is so dominant, almost everything that can be seen as similar is a ripoff, like Spectrobes and what not.

It's obvious by now that you're a fan of Pokemon, which will make it harder to see this as original, knowing your possible bias/feeling towards the franchise and it's work.

I also wouldn't emphasize the whole "produced" part, seeing as how it has nothing to do with the game's quality and your displaying it as big aspect of the entire thing.
Not honestly a big deal, but might as well throw it into the post.

Is there anything major in it that separates it from games like Pokemon or games like it?

have fun with that. if you're an individual with an idea this massive 3D is generally not the way to go, make it 2d or make the idea simpler
oh wait

Ok, thanks guys. I changed the first post, as well as added a couple of ideas to sound more original. Does that sound better or worse?
