Custom SSB Kirby
#1
Ok, I know there are already a few Kirby's goin around, but I thought I would give it a try, since it looks fairly easy. I'm pretty new to all this. So far all I have is a frontal pose, but I am working on more. How do you think it turned out?

Hold on, I'm just gonna go upload it instead...

Ok, here it is.

It's not bad it just looks...weird for some reason. Maybe the eyes need to be further apart or the feet need to be longer. The mouth is probably to big.
Also it looks like its edited off of this.

If not it does use the same colors.

that link did'nt work, but I know what you are talking about. I did use his palette, but I was planning on changing it, just getting all the shades and shapes and stuff down to see if it looks right first. I did make it myself though.

ok, I made the mouth smaller. I also made the shoes longer, but I think I might of made them worse. I also added small highlights to the hands. uploading now..

here it is.

Oh yeah, I also moved the face up a little, and moved the highlights on the shoes.

Ya the old shoes were better, but for the mouth it would have to be centered so the head would have to be made wider. If you don't mind I edited it to show you what I mean.

I know what you mean, and no, I don't mind. You can show me if ya want. I picked out a new palette for him. I'm not sure they are the best set of colors though.

Hold on, I'm going to go upload what I have now. btw, I did what you said, and fixed the shoes kinda.

Here it is,

Well my edit was done with the old palette but whatever. I changed the shoes and lightened the blush as well as widening his head.

I made this before your most recent edit so, you know. Use if you like or use it as a reference.

dangit, I like that. But I just started to do an animated forward-walking one. I 'll keep it incase though, thanks.

the shoes on your kirby are too round for him to be standing on them.
Flatten out the bottom like on the kirby the other guy posted.

Outside of that, don't make Kirby such a perfect circle, he's not arial or anything.
He's standing so his body should be resting on itself, so it should be slightly squished towards the bottom.
The feet need to appear to be more attached as well.

A lot of people think Kirby is easy to sprite because he's a ball, but making a ball with feet doesn't cut it.

Also, the eyes need to be slightly longer and possibly further apart.
Look at the sprites from Super Star for ways to make the eyes larger without making a solid black pixel on the sides or the bottom.

Good luck.

Nothing more or less useless than imagining that there is more to be done. Recall: no matter what is new there will always be these hands and these sandwiches. The enlightenment came and went and sliced bread was our creation— the best to be had. There can be no avenues of intellectual discord. We will always fold our food and put it into our mouths, long after our bodies forget what to do with it.

Maybe it's just me, but the color selection looks extremely similar to this:

Thanks for the tips. It sucks though, because I just made a walking one. Its not that great yet, but I think it turned out ok. I'll post it, then make some adjustments.
And Bane84, that was already explained, and fixed.

Ok, heres the animated one. I don't think I'm gonna use it thouhg. I have a bunch of stuff to fix...
Well, I lost the link, and my browser won't let me go back to it for some reason. Oh well, I'll improve the still one, post later.
Sorry for the double-post, but here is the improved kirby. A little flatter, flatter feet, taller eyes, and better arms.
