Unfortunately, I don't know that its possible to rip from that game. I went and looked at the ISO and while there are some textures you can get from it, I couldn't even find where the models are stored. It was odd too because there was a model directory, but there was nothing in it and nowhere else obvious where the models may have been stored. If I had to guess I'd say they're in a format specific to that game, but if that's the case then its probably impossible to rip them from the ISO. If I think of some way to rip it later I'll tell you, but at the moment I'm pretty clueless on how you could go about it.

Well, It was worth a try Very Sad

As far as I know, only the 'NSBMD tool' by kiwi.ds can display most the models from ds games (if they are in the nitro format .nsbmd). You can find it here (you'll need to register though, and the forum's quite inactive). Some models do not come out right (or crash the program), but if they do show up correctly you'll still have to use something else to rip the model from the tool.

I might make a converter this holiday, but no promises there.

Haha, it's just a passing interest, but thank you for the info! I would mostly be veiwing and not ripping - so that might serve me just fine.
I should focus on my own field... :V

Well at the very least, I think this is that NSBMD tool he was talking about: http://www.mediafire.com/?nm2004nwqly

So wait, you can rip Model's from ISOs? If so then can't you take an ISO of a ps2 game and do it from there?

Well it really depends on the model format. Some PS2 games like the Kingdom Hearts and a few of the Final Fantasies games have a model extractor and viewer that you can rip the models from. There are a few other games with on PS2 you can rip models from in a similar way, but not many I know of.

I'll try and start a list later of games I know can be ripped and how to rip from them.

What about ripping from Pokemon Battle Revolution? I have had the ISO for a while but I'm no programing expert, and I haven't really found anything about PBR models. I did find what I believed to be the models' file type although I've forgotten what it is. I saw that textures have been ripped onto the Texture Resource site and I've seen models that have been ripped from the game but I don't remember where I found those, it was a while ago. Can anyone help??

You can decompress them and everything to their base format, but as far as I can tell you can't rip them from the result. If there is a way to do that I haven't found it. It sucks because Pokemon XD and Colloseum use the same format for their models.

You can probably rip them from Dolphin with 3D Ripper DX or something, but you'll have to bear with whatever FPS you get on your computer.

Just curious, would the Mesh2RDM method work with a game like Monster Hunter Freedom Unite?

Honestly I have no idea. You can try running GitMO on the .iso (can't be a .cso because those are compressed) and seeing if it extracts anything, but I couldn't tell you if anything would actually turn up or not. You'll have to try it yourself.

I decided to post in this thread, instead of anywhere else, since the title and contents are about helping with ripping models.

So basically, I want to rip the models from Sam & Max Season 3.
I know how to use 3D Ripper DX and such, but I had no luck in getting the ripped models properly. I do not own 3ds max, so I use the .obj versions of the ripped models with Blender, and they all are FLATTER THAN CHEST OF A FLAT LOLI WHO IS A QUEEN OF THE LAND OF FLAT CHESTED LOLIS.

So, am I doomed or am I DOOMED?

And since I have the occasion to post here, I want to ask:
Does anybody know how to extract those GOSH DARNED Megaman Starforce 3 models and convert them/view them properly with something?

Thank you for your time, even if you can't/don't want to help me.
Peace.

Okay, you're not doomed. Well probably not anyway.

If you really want to use 3DRipper DX you can, but you'll have to manually stretch your import along the flat axis (usually the y axis) to get them looking correct. This should work as long as the models have any sort of depth. If they come out with literally no depth at all along the flat axis than you're out of luck with that method.

However an alternative would be to use 3D Via Printscreen and use this script to import it into Blender. I personally never got Python set up correctly on my compute and so I was unable to test it, but I've it seems to work just fine for importing the .3dxml files that 3D Via dumps.

For Megaman Starforce 3, I don't know if there's a viewer or something, but 3D Via should be able to dump from Desmume if you set it to render with Open GL. That is, if that game is compatible with Desmume in the first place.

Hope that helps you bro.

Hey I was beginning to think Models Resource was inactive. Anyway all that aside, Shadowth you may want to fix the link to the script as it's not set up properly at the moment.

Hey, thanks Shadowth.
Stretching helped with the models ripped by 3D Ripper DX.
(Meanwhile models ripped with "3DVia" came out COMPLETELY flat lol)
Anyway, thanks again.
Also, I wanted to ask... are there any specific guidelines (as in, how the models should be submitted, what format etc.) for submitting models here? If I missed a thread somewhere, then feel free to shout at me. : P
Because once I'm done with those Sam & Max models, I would like to submit them for the site or something.

PEACE

EDIT!

Well what the hell...

I have now problem with the textures, namely, the ones that belong to the characters.

Ah thanks for that, I wasn't paying too much attention at the time. As for TMR being inactive, well in my case anyway... I find Halo Reach to be seriously awesome. 'nuff said.

That's weird, its like the textures are being assigned incorrectly to your objects. Try and find another texture that fits better for different objects.

If you know you've got the right texture on a model and it doesn't look right then you'll probably have to scale the UV map for the model a little. You'll want to make sure you haven't mistakenly placed the wrong texture or something though first.

As for guidelines, they can be found here.

Oh, sorry. I forgot to mention that I was talking about the textures for charas being BLUE and PINK.
The textures seem to be right, but... yeah, the colors are screwed up.
Anybody knows wassup with that?

[sorry for the late reply btw. Been kinda busy... with stuff. Yeah.]
