Victory fanfares?

That's pretty cool for a Geno specific fanfare, though I kinda prefer the battle victory myself.

It came to mind, so I thought I'd share it. I like it because that's place that plays the song is an important place for Geno since he leads you through it... technically.

Someone already beat me to it...I always thought that'd make more sense, despite the fact that the Sonic 3 theme is the one used now...

- Maybe Zelda can use the Item Fanfare from the Zelda series.

- Ganondorf can probably use the theme where Link learns a new attack in Twilight Princess. (I'm pretty sure there's a better option, as I'm not entirely 'fluent' with the series. I really like that sound, though Genki ^_^)

- Masked Man could probably use a piece of the battle theme Strong One from Mother 3, Masked Man's battle theme, or the slowed down version of the Love Theme like in the very last battle against Masked Man.

- Lucas could use the regular Love Theme.

- Porky could use his battle theme where he's alongside Giygas, or the theme of one of the parts where Giygas fights on his own.

That's all I got so far...

As I mentioned, K.Rool should use the "Minigame lost" fanfare for his, since DK and Diddy used the "Minigame won" fanfare for theirs.

Bowser could use the "Game Over" theme for his. And Bowser Jr .... The "Lost a Life" jingle from Sunshine?

I thought we weren't using multiple fanfares? Geno get's his own 'cause he's really a 3rd party. Also, Hyper, sorry to say but winning means having a rather uplifting sound to it. Game overs and losing aren't exactly the cheeriest things to use. Snake is an exception, since his sound is, from what I know, the game over jingle, but it's not depressing.

Bowser and K.Rool are villains. Why should they have merry happy victory themes

Besides, the "Game Over" jingle from Mario isn't really that horrifically depressing

Um, does it matter if they're villains or not? They still need a proper victory song that actually seems fitting for a victory and not a loss.

And fair point on Mario's game over jingle.

A hero's loss is a villain's victory

But I'll let the heads of the team decide on this

Oh ho. Touche.

Still, point stands. I thought it was 1 song per series?

Ness must have the Melee's victory music and Lucas the other one in Brawl, I think.

Since there's no Mother 1 (EB0) character it was nice of them to make the Mother victory jingle based off of that game.

I... really don't like where this is going.

  1. Despite the fact that Geno is a third party character, he should still have the original Super Mario Bros. fanfare, seeing as we all already decided that his icon would be that mushroom.
  2. All characters in this game should have at least similar sounding victory fanfares if they're from the same series. Remixing it to have it fit the character more is okay, but it's really an ass-pull to suddenly give Bowser the game over song or something. Different fanfare means different series. Bowser is still a Mario series character.
  3. In fact, the only one that perhaps should have a differing fanfare would be Meta Knight, but only because he originally had a differing fanfare. In my opinion I'm perfectly fine giving him the same fanfare as Kirby and King Dedede.
  4. HOWEVER, since we've unofficially decided that we would use victory jingles (the looping jingles after the original fanfare), we could play with that all we want. Hell, give Bowser his imperial march or Geno his leitmotif, and I'm perfectly fine. Hell, every character could have his or her own victory jingle for all I care.
  5. Remember, so far only a few (me included) were able to provide actual fanfares and jingles, and as far as I know I'm the only one actually making new fanfares. Using the original soundtrack as fanfares would be a generally bad idea, with the rare exception where the original song actually WAS a fanfare to begin with, and actually fits in with the other orchestrated / mechanic fanfares. I do not like to boast about my knowledge of music, but using chiptuned fanfares together with the orchestrated fanfares on Brawl do not work. At all.

Those were my 2 cents.

Give Geno the SMRPG victory fanfare?

I agree with Gary. Its the series national anthem not the characters theme song. Think of it like the Olympics, the series symbol is their country's flag and the jingle is their anthem.

I agree with Gary on everything but Geno. We're using him as separate to the core franchise (like Wario, Yoshi, et al), so he should have something different. What would be a good SMRPG song that could be used with anyone from the game? Imagine Mallow is playable. What victory song would work? The "battle won" song. The Forest Maze would isolate Mallow. But for the fanfar loop after the victory, anything could work. Geno could have a Forest Maze loop while Mallow gets a Nimbus Land one. I think this is the way to go.
