I've found a decent counter for commando runners

it's called the AA-12

oh and I'm not a huge fan of the Silencer
I'll use it if I need to stay hidden, but for the most part I prefer a scope or grip

I play the default Riot Control loadout, and I never use the guns that come with it since they're terrible anyway.
Marathon + Commando = quick distance shield smashes, and Pain killer doesn't hurt either

not to mention that I can block knives if I'm positioned correctly

I never really got into doing knifing classes
it's fun to run around and all, but meh. Not my style

if I'm dicking around, I'd rather use akimbo SMGs with akimbo pistols Cool

and then you do some freaky side-stepping shit and you end up just behind them

It'd still be nice if they made it so you could counter with your own knife when you see it coming or it isn't a one hit kill.

this is what I do with most knifers
I drop a flashbang on the ground (doesn't affect me behind the shield), then as they try to knife, I dodge, sidestep, and back smash them.
Of course I can only do that twice per spawn, but I can pull off the "dodge and attack" move while fighting normally as well

A fun thing to do is stand there and have somebody empty their clip on you, absorb all the damage, then melee kill them as they're reloading.

I would use the magnum for several reasons:
#It's more powerful than the pistols
#You don't need the "Stopping Power" perk as it's usually 1-2 shot kills anyway.
#Used with FMJ you can mostly get 1-shot kills (In PRO Matches)
#Highly effective with the akimbo attacement.

The only bad points would be the fact that if you don't take your time with the gun you could end up frantically reloading only to get shot.
That and the low amount of ammo, but use the "scavenger"perk to counter that one.
