I'm tired of Nintendo ONLY milking Mario. I like Mario and all, but what about Starfox, Kirby, Link, Samus, and Donkey Kong? They don't make games for them as often anymore, they just like to remake them instead.

Also, I think we had that Gameboy Advance Kirby remake and then a Superstar remake on the DS...that's not too bad.

IDK, Mario hasn't been milked that badly the days.
It certainly wasn't as bad during the gamecube era, how many games did mario have on there again?

Hell nintendo is certainly trying to milk other series then mario, I've been noticing that recently, Hell if anything they're starting to milk the legend of zelda series a bit more (skyward sword, the remake, crossbow training, and the two DS titles it had.

Edit: This is becoming pretty off topic now. I thought the point of the argument was how milked Sonic was, not nintendo's series.

Isn't that the point of a gimmick anyways? I mean sure there's a solid line between something that hasn't been done or something that could work for a franchise but I'm pretty sure most concepts become gimmicks ether way (hi twilight princess!).

I mean most gimmicks can be applied to anything, if it something that hasn't been exactly done before and it's interesting then that's a good gimmick, like super mario galaxy.

Lets look back the sonic series on the other hand and apply the other thing you brought up.

Now for the most part, Sonic Team adds a bunch of gimmicks that were already seen to please a bunch of fans. But there has been times where they've added stupid gimmicks to the franchise.

Now those are shit gimmicks, things we've already saw or crap that's not good enough to be decent. Although, there has been cases where it has worked, like sonic colors.

my point is, there are good gimmicks and bad gimmicks, no matter the concept it will always be a gimmick. But as long as it's good then it won't matter. If it's bad then well, yeah, it's a bad gimmick.

id rather see new franchises than the same old characters and same old mechanics that we have seen for the last 20 years.
