gooey does not look goo-like in appearance; it's represented in his animation.

But his shape does (his utter lack of features and colour also help but this obviously isn't applicable in this case). At the moment we have a head. You can make it jiggle around when you animate it and then you will have head with no bones and filled with water but it will still be a head.

Virtuaboy's edit looks a lot more gooey-like (thanks to lack of bottom head shape) and if animated or put in context you may get away with it looking like gooey.

But well, as long as it's flesh in colour it will always look like a head. Having a severed head as an companion who eats things is by no means a bad thing though. If your fine with it being a severed-head-blob-like-thing companion all you need to do is change the shape a bit and you're fine. If however you want it to be a Gooey like blob thing based off someone's head I don't think the concept will work.

As a severed head based off Gooey it's fine. As a blob based off Angie I think the concept is flawed.
