How To Capture Mobile M3G Models
#1
Well I don't know why you'd want to capture mobile phone models, but the fact is that you can and I'm going to tell you how Tongue .

There's a (now-defunct) J2ME emulator called KEmulator Lite 0.9.8, which allows you to view the M3G assets of an exectuable java file currently loaded.
  • Run 3DVia Printscreen.
  • Load a java file in the emulator by either selecting "Midlet>Load Jar ..." from the emulator's toolbar and navigating to the file, or dragging it over the emulator's window/icon.
  • Emulate the exectuable to a point where the model you wish to capture is loaded.
  • Select "View>M3G View", and find that model within the window's navigation column.
  • After the model is found, capture it with 3DVia Printscreen while moving the model's viewpoint. (The emulator might crash right after attempting to capture a model, but 3DVia Printscreen will usually still save the model as a .3dxml file to the output directory.)

Also included in the capture is the checker grid and the transform gizmo shown in the viewer, which can be deleted. The captures also save textures and polygon colours. Other J2ME emulators may also have this capturing capability.

Hooray! Hooray?
