For the walking animation, you got a decent idea of what to do. But the arm movement feels very robot-like.  Or like a wind-up toy.

I'd suggest to make the arms move a bit, rather than being in a straight pivot.

Example when animated into a gif. (I have no idea what speed you wanted in, so I just did GIMP's default.

The front arm should bend more into their stomach, as their back arm should be less visible.

Or whatever. Try and look at sprites from different games, and see how the walking animations work, it'll help.
I like to make models in my free time. I also make weird games, too.
