That may work with sprites, but drawings are more complicated than that. Since it doesn't really use exact colors.

While obviously not being a perfect match, the basic information still translates to other art forms. Hue, saturation, contrast all matter in digital paintings, too.
Moreover, take a look at DragonBoy's drawings here again, he apparently does work with rather exact colours in these pieces!
