Nice Mallow I like the shading effect that makes him look puffy
But also, I'd shorten his legs (when they are in front of him) for the front and back poses by a pixel or two, and change his arms, front and back. I'm a beginner too, so hang in there
Oh, and to answer your question, I'm pretty sure the human characters only need a 2 pixel gap between the legs (If you look at Dedede, He has a bigger gap, and I'm sure other characters have it too)
