you know, scrap this project for a while
You mainly need to get your pixel abilities in shape; there's no way you're going to finish this in the way you are. Work on custom sprites (it doesn't even need to be Minish Cap styled; the more styles you mimic, the better. This way you can start 'collecting' different techniques from the sprites). I'm not saying to discourage you, but rather guiding you.
Right now, looks like you're trying to write a book without knowing the letters. Everything has their order
