1930s Video Game Characters! - Koopaul - 11-06-2009

Here's a fun project. How about we all have fun making video game characters in 1930s style cartoons? It shouldn't be too hard we'll only use 3 colors and white of course. See my example below. You can use any character you want but they MUST be from a video game. I'll put all the good ones in the first post.

The picture can be no bigger than 100x 100 and uses the black and grays from Paint.

Cool, but if you could, put up a rough list of the shit you want to cover; that'd be great. Heart

Well this is for fun. I want people to feel free to do what they want. I believe the more freedom you give in a project the more results you'll get.

And Devicho that is totally going up top!

Went for a more older look on Mario to make it look a little more classic

EDIT: made a few minor touch ups and made the palette a bit different then the last one to make it more in the style were trying to aim for

His left (our right) arm is way too straight, and there's no AA.

RE: 1930s Video Game Characters! - Koopaul - 11-07-2009

I suggest you make his hair hat and shoes the same shade of gray.

Also Mario doesn't look very 30s to me. 30s characters were more smooth, curvy and boneless.

Koopaul and Devicho, awesome work. Absolutely love Bowser Jr.

Also I think it would help to move his straight arm up a pixel or two. Its lower than the other one.

Definitely am going out of my comfort pixel

maybe I should work a bit on the face and make it a little more round or leave it?

Actually G&W Mario could be quite a good reference in these circumstances.
I like the idea Koopaul!
