My scanner was a sir, I actually do have a lot of measurements marked there. I'm quite horrific at facial drawings, that's why my mentor pulled me from the figure. He wants more and better quality facial drawings.
EDIT: BUt the hair is freehand, I can never figure out that things structre.

Is that charcoal or pencil?

If it's charcoal, don't smudge so much, it makes things look grubby and blech. Smudge lightly around edges to blend things, but don't go crazy.
if it's pencil, use harder leads >:I

I used a .7mm mechanical pencil, 2H, 6B, and a tortillon for blending. the actual picture on paper is 5x3 inches.
