My 3D VG art - rundas2 - 08-10-2018

Welcome, thread viewers.

I'm a 3D computer artist, who uses a program called DAZ studio, and I pick up a lot of Models for my scenes at the models resource. Here are two of such 3d works of mine.

Mario Generations?

Link vs Agahnim (I know I should have used Classic Link but he's not completely rigged yet)

If these prove popular, I may decide to show more (I have a lot of scenes done, but I'm trying to stick to the VG-related ones here.)

Huh! I like the Agahnim costume on the second one a lot, and I'd love to know where you got it! Tho, I will comment, both of them look kinda... off.

But that doesn't seem to be your doing as much as the issue of the program itself; given the certain... prurient art I've perused made using that program has similar issues. Which makes it immensely; upsettingly uncanny valley.

Anyone who actually knows 3d modeling know why DAZ tends to look kind of unsettling/jank?

I actually made him out of various model parts and props.

I know they look sort of funny, but I guess that happens when you use foreign models in some programs.  Surprise

I don't know how you do it. My art experience extends to Microsoft Paint - and my skill level there is so-so. I hadn't even heard of modeling until recently. So in my book, you're doing awesome just making them. And to me they look pretty good.

Thanks, buddy. I'm still kind of rusty with the actual posing, especially with the individual finger joints, but I can do enough to get by.

Well, I meant less the models, which honestly are a lot less uncanny-valley than others I've seen, than the lighting. It looks kinda like a depressing dollar store or possibly a murder-basement not just there, but in a lot of DAZ stuff I've seen, and I still wonder why that is...

It's certainly a real enigma. But hey, It's the best I've got.
