I would assume so. I mean it wouldn't be fair for them to just assume that everyone who owns a Wii U also owns a 3DS.

What I want to know is if the new story-mode chapters are going to include new Wind Waker-themed battlefields. I'm assuming it's going to be shoed-in as a fourth timeline during the part of the story where the timelines merge, meaning potentially two new battlefields. What areas from Wind Waker do you guys think would make potentially good fields?

Forsaken Fortress is my top pick. After all, they apparently alluded to the Helmaroc King being featured in some way.

I'm also banking on the inclusion of Toon Ganondorf. Of course I have a list a mile long of other characters I'd love to see included, but who knows what they could actually fit in a 3DS version.

Dude I would kill to add Toon Ganondorf to the roster. Unfortunately that seems unlikely since they're already adding three characters and that is generous as it is. At the very least they could give the current Ganondorf a Toon costume though. I mean he's already wielding two swords so it works out great.

I don't think a Toon Ganondorf costume is overly out of the question. The team working on this game has been very generous to franchise history so far.

Well then ... Forsaken Fortress is looking ... way less sinister than usual ...

It appears that the purpose of the Ocarina item is to allow you to jump around the map:

Finally, Toon Link is shown using a hammer weapon, but considering it looks nothing like the hammer that actually appears in Wind Waker (and more like the Magic Hammer from LttP), I'm guessing this is an item and not a weapon or attack. Obviously it's going to be Helmaroc King's weakness.

Oh, and new enemies too.

Just waiting for the Wii U version of the expansion =D

From what I understand it appears that ... only the three characters are transferable to the Wii U version, not the additional story part. So who knows if the map, items, or boss will be available in the Wii U version at all. I guess that makes some sense as it gives some inventive to buy and play the 3DS version instead of just waiting for DLC, even if it does kind of suck.

Bunch of Toon Link & Tetra gameplay footage here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIlqNjuAyIU

For anyone who thinks the video is TL;DW, here's the things I noticed:

- Turns out Dragon Roost and Forsaken Fortress are not two new maps. Rather, it's one giant Wind Waker themed map that uses elements from Dragon Roost, Forsaken Fortress, Windfall Island, and Outset Island. Maybe some other things too.

- Tetra's pistol shoots water bullets, which I guess is how they got around Nintendo's no-guns rule. She uses water effects in a lot of her combo-finishers.

- Toon Link has his Hurricane Spin. A couple different versions of it, actually. A longer version that leaves him dizzy and a shorter version which ... doesn't.

- Despite using Owl Statues as teleport points, the song the Ocarina plays does not sound like the Song of Soaring. The character is teleported by being swept up by a passing tornado, which is a reference to the original NES Legend of Zelda ... however it doesn't play the tune from that either, which is weird.

- Chuchu's appear in the game as a special enemy, but since it's in Japanese I'm not sure what their purpose actually is.

Oh man, and I thought Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U was big. This version is bigger!

Now I just need a New 3DS to get it... Hype.   Big Grin

The addition of Toon Link (My favorite incarnation of Link, because childhood) and Tetra alone makes me really want it.

The fact that Young Link is also in this game is the icing on the cake for me.

Three Links? Reminds me of Mario Kart having four Marios.

At least in this game they have a varied moveset.

RE: Waifu Warriors: Featuring Link from the Legend of Zelda series! Now on New 3DS WOAH! - TomGuycott - 09-22-2015

As similar as they are, at least the three Links are all different people. Young Link is the predecessor (possibly ancestor, but I don't think they even have to be blood related) to Hyrule Warriors' Link, and Toon Link is from another timeline entirely.

Super excited to hear recent news that there are even more characters that they haven't announced, by the way. I assume one is probably Toon Ganondorf, and I'm hoping for more villains, too.

Rumor has it Linkle is going to show up, too.
And I think they've alluded to other additional characters. I know Groose still has a huge fandom for inclusion. Linebeck would be cool, too. It'd be nice to see Vaati show up now that there are other characters to match his aesthetic.

Come on Alfonzo!

I'm hoping for some handheld game characters.

3DS is going to have a great time at the start of next year

I know this pales in comparison to Skull Kid, but Linkle is a real character now, using dual crossbows.

Also old characters are confirmed to get new weapons, the first confirmed one being a Lightning based trident for Ganondorf. Everything else, as well as what is transferable to the Wii U game, has yet to be revealed.
