Eh, I'm banking on the return of an old stage, more than likely New Pork City. I'd LOVE a new one though.

Magicant easily looks like one of my favorite new stages. In addition to the references and use of actual Mother sprites, it just looks and sounds so.... relaxing.

I'm happy for Bowser Jr. and Duck Hunt Dog, but not Dr.Mario and Dark Pit, cutting Wolf, Lucas and Ice Climbers especially for Dark Pit upsets me

....Can we please revive the Smash Bros. project?

Ice climbers were in no way dropped for anyone, they were dropped due to technical difficulties. 3DS most likely couldn't handle 7 AIs as complex as them at the same time since unlike Luma, they require path finding which puts a strain on the system.

I dunno I think you might be underestimating the 3DS's capabilities. It's supposed to be more powerful than the Gamecube in all areas, and the Ice Climbers were in Melee.

Gamecube
CPU: 485MHz IBM Gekko PowerPC
GPU: ATI Flipper 162MHz - Polygons: 20 million per second
RAM: 24MB 1T-SRAM, 16MB DRAM


I'm not very good with all the jargon, but I think the GameCube has better processing?

The goal was to make Smash run at a consistent 60 fps without slowdown. Apparently in order to even accomplish this, non-player characters actually run at 30 fps.

That being said, I think there's serious possibility that the Ice Climbers were a technical issue. Not only that, Sakurai stated in an early interview that Ice Climbers were being a problem in the first place.


And before someone goes and says that the 3DS version "held the wii u back", keep in mind that Sakurai's original vision was only a 3DS smash. HD Smash was something they had to convince him to do.

i'm not even ashamed of it, i literally had tears in my eyes when i saw the magicant stage in action, and i even did shake a little when i heard starmen was going to be an assist trophy AND a smash run enemy.

magicant was a stage i wanted since melee, and now it's finally here. with two of my most favorite video game tunes along it in a perfect remix
( both eigh melodies and magicant theme from mother 1 )

and if the flying man gets on my nerves, i can just play the final destination version of the stage. the stage really pays tribute to all that the first two mother games had to offer. finally earthbound or mother for that matter is getting the fan service that it deserves. nintendo finally knows there's a huge dedicated cult following out there that is patient and reasonable. and it's finally getting the love letter it deserves.

i'm curious if they really changed up the octopus statue into the pencil statue for the english version.

they're is so much going on in that stage, dungeon man comes a long as a platform, a tree appears, mobile sprouts apparently hop along, the phase destroyer appears.

and those spacial rafts, showing those memorable moments from the game. the stage just shows what i think mother does best; showing how far you have come and how it was worth it~
