I just don't get what's disrespectful, they're happy to have finally beaten somebody who's been curb stomping them, and all I'm getting is that you have the right to be mad because you don't get to kick the shit out of them again?

Said person FINALLY got a small victory out of someone who's clearly better than them. Why should they stay just so you get to pound on your chest and kick the ever living fuck out of them again? Just move on, they did. Maybe you'll get to fight somebody who's a better challenge anyways.

But you're finding it "hilarious" because you're projecting unsavory characteristics on the people who do it that aren't necessarily anything close to accurate.

Dude, I'm not saying they should stay to get their ass kicked all over the place. I'm saying that if it really bothers them, they should leave beforehand. It shows poor competitive spirit to quit the minute you get ahead.

I'm not projecting, I'm going completely off of experience here. I should have mentioned that I'm not speaking exclusively about the smash bros community, I'm talking about all online, PvP games, most of which have chats full of dumb people who blatantly advertise what I'm talking about. I find it hilarious because it gives them a false sense of superiority.

I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, I'm saying that, from experience, it's often meant to be a dick move.

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Gwen - 01-06-2015

But they never did get ahead? They got one little win in a string of losses.

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Iceman404 - 01-06-2015

They should just leave if they keep losing rather than finally getting a win and running then. :V

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Kriven - 01-06-2015

I feel like there's a difference in games with chat though. I think I mentioned earlier that Nintendo's online communities are far more casual, and that's basically what I meant... everything is anonymous, there isn't any communication at all. That makes it extremely difficult to express... well, anything. Including why you're leaving the room. In a game with chat, of course it would be nasty to leave without saying anything. Smash doesn't have that.

Of course even in games with chat, if somebody beats me after a string of losses and says: "Oh, nice game, but I have to get some homework done noe."... well, they've got homework to get done.

Why would anyone get this salty over For Glory Mode? I mean, it's kind of laggy and its Final Destination only. It's not exactly the best place to show off overall skill

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - TomGuycott - 01-06-2015

Gonna be real here: win or lose, sometimes a guy just has to leave. In an anonymous setup it's REALLY hard to say why a person left.

Really don't know why this is a discussion. And even if they are being salty, who cares? You beat them like 10 times, them leaving after winning is the equivalent to them running home with their tail between their legs, but they find a cookie on the way home.

look at it this way. lets say i beat someone like 4 times or somethings. the 5th time around, i accidentally SD somehow, and they win. they leave after that match after a few seconds on the results screen. now, if it were me, there would be only one reason i would stay on the results screen longer than intended, and that is to save a replay. i would know because it happens to me all the damn time.

at that moment, you can pretty much tell they were being salty. i mean, who saves a replay after a little mistake that i made? why not save replays even though you lose? i save replays that i lose, probably because of a highlight that i had during the battle, like a well-executed warlock punch. sure, i lost, but i still had a good kill. people get good kills on me all the time, but they never save it when they lose.

also, i dont know where youre getting the part about us being mad just because we "don't get to kick the shit out of them again". if an opponent beats me 3 times, i leave. not because im salty. only because its obvious that they're a better player than me. who the hell wants to wait until they get lucky enough to beat their opponents?

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Iceman404 - 01-07-2015

Yeah... this whole devil's advocate thing is dumb. After playing so long I can basically tell the signs of any salty player.
-Quick drop outs from spawner after death in a failed attempt to rush you
-Swapping to Little Mac
-Staying on the Results Screen for an unusual amount of time and then leaving instantly

The third usually happens when I make some mistake and lose, it's pretty easy to gather that people try to leave when they win so they don't have to face the possibility of another loss. They just want to leave on a high note and feel good, which is essentially and quite literally trying to get "the last laugh". Whether this is a good thing, not, or nuetral, I don't really know. I try to be a good sport myself though and test my "luck" a second time if I was the one losing rather than leave while I'm 'ahead'.

Nobody is playing Devil's Advocate.

There are legitimately different opinions on gaming etiquette clashing.

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Iceman404 - 01-07-2015

It's either "they genuinely had to go" or "they wanted the last laugh". No way it can be proven obviously, just hypothesizing; but from my experience some people like to play endless matches until they eventually win by fluke, and then they suddenly "genuinely have to go right now". Smug

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Kriven - 01-07-2015

I really don't see feeling good after a win and leaving with that positivity as being the same as "having the last laugh". The latter makes them sound like cartoon supervillains, which is, as I said above, just projecting negative character traits to stroke your own ego.

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Darky's Manifestation - 01-07-2015

just had to log in to post this.

if you think leaving after a one sweet victory after a bunch of losses is a ''bad sport''; then i think the only bad sport right here is you, and you fucking need to grow a pair and man the fuck up. it's a fucking game guys, i can leave whenever i want. and if that so happens RIGHT after i got one victory, or maybe i've been winning the whole time or whatever the situation is; if i got to take a shit, i'm going to take a shit, bye.

if someone finally gets a victory after me? you know what, great job buddy. you finally did it, looks like the student surpassed the master on this one. keep op going and you'll get better. infact you know what? class dismissed. oh and i thought we had some great fun you know fucking what i might just add you as a friend on my wii u. so if you accept me, we can return some time or another.

infact when i want to pay my respects no matter the situation if i was beating them match after match or they we're beating me match after match, most of the times i'll add them as a friend just so i could show ''this was fun, we should do this again sometime.''

seriously how is it a bad thing to leave after getting one victory? are you that bad of a sport? are you forgetting the times you've won before your opponent finally got you? the only bad sport mans ship that bothers me is when your opponent SD's to end the match rigth after you've KO'd them for a first time in a way so gruesome yet top notch tactics they just give up.

and if even that is the case and the leave the room right after that; then it's their choice and i'm there to respect it.

RE: The Super Smash Bros Thread. No Items,Diddy Kong only, Final Destination. - Iceman404 - 01-07-2015

I think you basically just re-stated everything from earlier in an unnecessarily aggressive tone, captain obvious.

Yes, conclusion, people are leaving because they have to do other things IRL.
