Project EF-12, the "3D MUGEN" - Stasis Rune - 09-28-2013

I didn't see any threads about this, so I figured I'd make one!

Project EF-12 is a 3D fighting game engine that's available for free, for the PC. That means, you can make your own 3D fighting game!

It comes with support for various gameplay styles, such as Tekken's Left/Right Punches and Kicks, a Street Fighter like 3 punch 3 kick style, Virtua Fighter's Punch/Kick/Guard style, and more!

You can, of course, import character models! Characters are modified by working with spreadsheets! Sharing characters sounds as simple as downloading a zip file and installing it in the right place!

Why am I saying everything in the present tense? Because it's already available! Well, it's in Japanese, and the instructions and tutorials are in Japanese, so it might be difficult to work with unless you can read Japanese! They are working on an english version, which should be out sometime before 2014 (that's within 3 months!)

Official sites:

http://ef-12.com/
http://playism-games.com/ (coming soon, this will be the site for the english version)

All I can say is, "whoa"

I wouldn't mind trying it out, but i'll wait for the english version. All i know is that people will have fun making stuff for it.

That was one of my first thoughts when I first saw EF-12, if TSR Models would work with this...oh, imagine the possibilities...

From what I know, this sounds like it should be easier to make your own moves than in something like MUGEN, that is...you don't need several drawings of someone doing a backfist to make them do a backfist, you just need to know what data to put in spreadsheets to make them do that backfist! The sample video shows stuff like changing a characters default stance, and from what I can tell, it seems pretty simple! I'd imagine it would be super easy to just totally swap a characters moveset with another!

I probably couldn't figure out any advanced stuff, or create my own models from scratch, but...I feel like there will be lots of cool stuff you can do with this that wouldn't be too hard to do!

this looks and sounds pretty cool, but i will probably wait for the English version as well Smile

(Mugen was pretty additive as well)

This seems like it'd be really fun to try out.

I wonder what the equivalent to MS Paint characters will be.

RE: Project EF-12, the "3D MUGEN" - Virt - 01-02-2014

Poorly-rigged models with ridiculous animations, most likely.

It'd be really fun if this engine gets its own betting site like saltybet.
